very good job zero. I use Limewire now for 3 years. I download shit load of music and porn. Ive donwloaded a total of 70 gigs of porn from Limewire and not one virus. You just need to be smart about which one you pick. The file that says... "Nude Fucking Horse Blowjobs Dirty Cock Balls Ass Pounding GGW Jenna Jameson Sex On The Pool Table" and its only 900kb.... is the file that will kill your PC. |

In general, p2p programs (such as limewire) are risky at best. In order to recieve the benefits of p2p's (such as downloading) you often have to specify folders on your hard drive to be viewed by the general public for their own downloading. Never a good idea to let the general public have access to your hard drive. All an RIAA official has to do is search for a file that is on your computer, download it, and Bam! you get snagged. Another huge security risk is your "library" is viewable to everyone by simply right clicking on that user. You can see instantly what that person has downloaded and if they are worth persuing just by one mouse click! With Torrents, you download the file, delete the torrent, and no one can download that file off of your computer ever again. Better yet no one can browse through your library of files, so if you have $10,000 worth of Maya and photoshop programs, there is no way to directly tell when you deleted the torrents. Not to mention that torrents are faster than p2p's because they can be downloaded in many segments by many users. I think that's a good enough reason to not use Lime-bad-wire. I just went to my library, and it says it's empty and is asking me to share a folder to enable the library. I download songs every day, without either of those enabled. need moar reasons. |
