Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

This will take a look at how to customize Limewire to looking fucking sweet, and how to illegally pirate music without getting raped by viruses!! First, a few things you should know: 1) You do not have to pay for limewire, ever. 2) Letting people "share" your music will not get you in legal trouble Step 1: Choosing a skin you like There are multiple colored skins that you can choose from for Limewire. However, some of my favorites, are not in the default Limewire, forcing you to have to download them yourself. By simply going to View > Apply Skins > Get more skins You can search through a directory of a skin you may like. Their most popular downloaded is the Black theme. Step 2: Setting up a shared folder Right when you download Limewire, It will ask you where you would like to place your files after downloading them. If you choose a file that already contains YOUR personally stored music, Limewire will ALSO share those files while sharing the ones you download. However, this also means that you can play all of your MP3 files in limewire. Just know that if there are any MP3's you do not wish to be shared with other people, you need to not share that imparticular file, or the folder altogether. Step 3: Spotting the right Download It is very easy to spot a virus from a good file, here are a few things you need to know before downloading files 1) Corrupt files will NOT be previewable before finishing downloading. Everytime you download an "iffy" file, try to preview it before it finishes, and if it won't play, it is corrupt, so stop the download immediately! 2) Corrupt files normally don't have any capital letters. When searching for files, look for media files that contain Capital letters for at least the artist's name/title. For example Figure A In this image, there is nothing wrong with the top file. Obviously if it is being shared by 16 people, it might not be corrupt, however it is much safer to find an alternative download instead. 3) Another important factor is seeing if the file has any information. By simply scrolling over a file and not clicking anything, a help box will pop up letting you know information. This shows that time has been put in to wanting to Share the file. This is normally a good sign. As you can see in Figure A, the help box that pops up for the top search file, has information. However with the lower case letters I would still feel leery about choosing this file. Step 4: How to spot the WRONG download Here are a few easy steps to see what NOT to download. I'm sure this will only take minimal common sense. 1) DO NOT DOWNLOAD ZIP FILES. You should never download anything buy Music/Occasionally Videos. Your best bet is to stick with Music files however. anything below 1,500 Kb is probably bad news. For instance, most viruses are only 400 KB or LESS. Most are around 100, or 93 kb. Here is what a corrupt file will look like if it is unable to play and you try and delete it. Figure B It has a low file size, but doesn't look corrupt. the name is fine with capitals, and it was an MP3 file, so why would I download this? unfortunately, there is something called "Women" and "Sisters" and they don't have the common sense to see that the files size is no where near a regular MP3 file size. Thus we have to beat the sense into them, but for you, we can skip this step, because you're better than this To download a good song, that isn't corrupt, it must pass a few tests #1 Being the proper Media File(MP3) #2 Being the appropriate size for a song(anything above 2,000 kb) #3 It should* have an information box when scrolling over it(some files amazingly might not, it is rare though) #4 The file SHOULD have mostly capitals coefficients. If they do not, it is not the end of the world. You can change the file once you finish downloading it, however this raises your risk for a "possible corrupted file" That's it! you should be well on your way to not being a fucking retard and being able to use Limewire at it's best!! If anybody has any specific questions, I will add it to this Tutorial. Questions are appreciated, Ruskiy is not. |

Choosing not to share ANYTHING is the safest way to go, legally, and internetly, even if you say so. Also, doesn't slow you down as much. Otherwise I hope bads will stop hating on the lime now. Edited Wed Sep 24 2008, 03:47AM |

Kirby wrote ... torrents are more win. I can only stand one Michael Bolton song at a time, not his whole Album, or ALL of the albums he's ever made. Torrents are wholesale win, not independent business win. |

Another tip is to compare the size of the file you may think is corrupt with other files in the DL list, and use common sense to think of how much KB a song would be. Also, narrow your search down to clicking on Music on the side so you won't be bothered much by virus files (still is some) and files that aren't music. | ||
