i brought up this argument many times when i had time to play FTC back in the day, but i feel it could use reiterating. In my experience, most cases (I'd say 80%) of "stacked" teams have nothing to do with an abundance of skill on one team compared to another, it's simply stupidity. If a team has one bad round people start bitching about stacked teams and then do the EXACT same thing EVERY ROUND. I got so fed up with this stupidity sometimes that i even slayed my entire team a few times. Just think about it, how many times have you been on Ts and had your team have 1 horrible round, so everyone decides to barricade themselves in the projector room in office crying "stacked". Then they do it every round and loose because the other team knows exactly what's coming. Or when your on CTs, everyone blindly goes to the front when they get killed in the hall every time because the Ts know exactly what's coming and throw grenades at the right time and then just pick stupid people off. All it takes is a small rush up the back stairs, but no one wants to do it because they think that teams are just so unbalanced and it just isn't fair. People need to realize that the game has some strategy to it and it's not all just running around and shooting. Then there are times when one player is just having a really good day and the rest of the guys on the server are all pretty evenly matched. I've had those days too. One instance i came onto the server and was having one of my best days ever. I started on CT and we won my first 20 rounds. Ts started complaining about stacking so i switched myself over to T by swapping to CT their worst player as far as K:D ratio. Ts ended up winning 18 straight with no other players switching over, only a few people droping and others coming in. There was nothing that could be done on a day like this. Everyone on was pretty evenly matched, and myself being one of the better players at the time, and having one of my best days, i just turned the tide by myself. No team balance, automated or admin enforced, would really do anything in that situation. I've also been on the other side when other good players happen to be on a streak with a fairly balanced server. As far as leadership and not enforcing things. I have no real problems with the way you used to run things Alex. Granted i didn't always agree with some decisions or ideas, but the fact is you are the one putting up the money and the hard work. So if you want socially respectable sprays and limited mic-spamming and for games to actually move forward rather than have every round be a camp-fest then it's your damn right because your paying for the server to be one that you enjoy playing on. Your not forcing anyone to be there and your not forcing anyone to really play with scewed rules. Just my 2 cents. |
