| Crunching sound from laptop hard drive | ||

Yeah, so i went to reformat my laptops hard drive last night, and it got to 19%, and then it like froze. So i let it sit for a while and then it started sounding like someone was eating chips really loudly, and then it shot and went from 19% to 30% and it was going up and up and got to 76% (still with a slight crunching noise), and then all of a sudden went to a blue screen and said some warning message. so i was like OMG WTF. dont remember what the message said, but i remember it said something about failed file something and then it was stopped to protect my computer. so it shut off, and i turned it back on, and then the crunching was loud as hell. So, what the fuck do i do? PS: I got my old slow comp up and running!!!! took me an hour to get the damn wire into the hd. but it works! so ill be on this week. |

step 1: aqurire hammer. step 2: place laptop on concrete/ cement floor. step 3: beat the shit out of said laptop with said hammer. step 4: repeat ass nessasary. |

Not too familiar with lappy internals but I am familiar with hard drive failure symptoms If you were installing on battery power that could cause that noise In a desktop if you hear clicking sounds the best way to see if its harddrive failure is to diconnect the ribbon or SATA cable but leave the power connected to the HD. If you start the computer and you get that clicking its HD failure. If it doesnt make that god awful noise its either not enough power or the cable needs to be replaced. like I said im not up on the guts of a lappy but HD failure has some basic symptoms. Potato chip crunching is one of them. But dont rule out a bad connector. If you know your way around that rig reseat the hard drive cables and power. Then boot up on main power not battery. You sure have your share of computer problems dont ya bro? Sux! |

yeah and my amplifier got fried in a lightning storm friday night so theres no sound on the big screen tv  been a terrible week. |
