I'm not sure how bad it is where you guys live, but in Edmonton i can't go anywhere without seeing someone tripping off of extacy. It makes me sick. Seeing and hearing about these 14 year old kids, who haven't even graduated Junior high (or middle school) getting totally wasted on the weekend and being hungover on monday come time for school. I know i'm being a hypocrit as i am a drug user, however the thing is with me, when i do drugs, i will only ever do it in moderation, and i'll make sure that i have enough time to be sobered up before i have anything important to do, be it school or work. I can't go to West Edmonton Mall anymore without being asked by atleast 4 people if i snort or pop. It's something i really don't understand. I see all these kids ruining their lives by becoming drug users. There's a difference between having fun, and being addicted. I'm not harping on kids who will smoke weed once in a blue moon at a party, that's not a bad thing, at all. Prime example of what im talking about, my friend Chayse, who is about 16 and a half, OD'd on cocaine this past weekend. I want to know what's going through these kid's heads when they do the drugs, and continue to do them. I got into the wrong crowd and popped a pill of extacy back in september, and it's easily one of my biggest regrets. But i controlled myself, being a not so strong willed person, and didn't ever touch it again. So why can't anyone else? There's so many people letting drugs and alcohol ruin their lives, and yet they're the only one who can make a difference. The way it is in Edmonton, a homeless person could go to the local McDonalds, have an actual conversation with the owner, and potentially get a job, and a place to live for the time being, while they get back up on their feet. So why do we have so many drug addicted kids?! Do they just ignore the warnings they're givin by their parents and the schools?! I didn't, i knew very well what i was doing when i did the drugs i have, but that's not to say that i didnt control myself while on them. I know im rambling on so ill cut it short. We're facing a problem, and it's literally up to us as humans to teach not only our friends that they're killing themselves, but we need to teach ourselves how to say no. Sure, there's peer pressure, but i've been pressued into trying cocaine, acid, all that shit, and i didnt touch it. So what's these kids excuses? The cool thing to do? No it isn't, i hear more people tell me it's retarded to do it, then turn right around and go pop some more pills. There's something seriously wrong with the world we're living in, if a 14 year old kid's parents are allowing them to go out, get drunk, smoke up, and fuck 9 guys at a party. We seriously need to put an end to this, or atleast, that's my opinion on the subject. |

That's weird, because just today 2 kids were kicked off of my football team for coming to practice high... shit like that that's completely unnecessary... avoid it... honestly, before football practice you'd get high? lol |

Well there are a few reasons. There is psychology pretty much if you make something illegal it is more appealing to the younger generation. Half the fun for some kids is the fact that they aren't allowed to do it and this just feed the problem. Some just try it and have no will nor thought of their personal well being. The drugs make them happy and there for with no will of their own they continue to do it looking for that happiness at the bottom of a bottle. "I do it for the drugs. I do just to feel alive. I do it for the drugs. I do for the love that I get from the bottom of a bottle." ( can't remember what song that is from but thought of it while typing this) Also as covered in a earlier conversation teens have a lot of stress and a hard life. These are just fuels to the fire. It make them feel they need that to get though the day. Some just want to be hardcore. We got bad roll models making things that are bad cool. We got gangsters singing about being drug dealing pimps and living it up like a king. That doesn't exactly send the right message. There are also people who get offered and say "what's the harm" the thing is they play all drugs as the worst thing on the planet there are so many lies mixed in with the truth that people really don't know what to believe and this can make people want to try things in search of the the truth really is. The can try pot and find out it isn't what people say and so they wonder if anything else is really all that bad. The thing about why people do drugs is a failing on all levels and on everyone. The problem isn't something that you can pin point because it is different for every person and even that one person may very well not realize all the reasons they did it. Personally my solution would be to just make them legal. It gets rid of all drug related crimes and free up our jails for real criminals. It will be less appealing to kids because it is just another thing to go get fucked up lol. You can motor legal substances a lot easier then you can illegal. |

If we made them legal, they'd still probably have the same age limits as cigarettes and alcohol. I don't do drugs, but I don't have a huge problem with people who do, unless they're idiots about it. |
