Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Alright so, with my broken Collarbone I have absolutely nothing to do, and I've been getting bored.. well, a while ago my really really good cousin gave his boss Vaio Desktop to my sister, for her to use, as he did not need one. well, I talked to him, and he said if I fix it up, it's all mine. Now, I am FLAT broke, with no money, and my parents wont let me buy stuff. But the product Key to the XP on it, is broken for some reason, and I dont know what to do, becasue I can't get onto the computer, without Activating windows on it again. Does anyone have a Windows XP Keygen?!?!? that would help so much If not, it might need a new HD due to it having a virus on it. once I can get onto the HD though, I can cure it, otherwise Cheap but good Harddrive, and I need Media Center because this computer is built around Media shit. can anyone help me out with Activating Windows? or getting me a new Key? |

Alright so new problem. It's not that I need a new CD product key, or a new Windows XP, it's that the computer is being a vile piece of shit, and won't accept ANY product keys. I've been trying to feed the computer the Product key that was assigned to it, many many times, and it wont take it. So I tested the product Key on a Keygen, and it said valid. So if it's still valid, why wont it accept it? Then I used the keygen to get a successful 3 keys. I tried all three, and it said that all three keys were INCORRECT. so now my question is, how can I reformat a computer, when I can't even log into my account. Is there a way, that when I start up the computer, I press a bunch of buttons to bring up a menu to erase the harddrive? because otherwise, nothing else is working. Now I dont need windows XP, I need a new harddrive, or I need this one erased. |

Ok zero my buddy... listen up. Whether or not the key code is valid, it wont work unless it has been used under 3 times. Even on the same computer. This is to prevent the same disc being used on many computers. The trick to this... is what i do to mine all the time. I have never payed for windows. Do this. Call the toll free number. You will get an automated women's voice asking for the original key code. Vocally speak it slowly. It will say incorrect. Speak it again, it will say incorrect again.... then it will transfer you to a live representative. He is going to ask you for the code a 3rd time. Then he will see that it has been used more then the "limited" number of times. Tell him that you reformatted your hard drive and need to install windows again. He will ask if you are the original owner. Say yes. Then he will give you a new key code. It will work. If it doesnt work, and you want to re-install windows anywayz... do this. Turn on the computer. When the motherboard screen comes up, press delete (most use delete). Its the screen that comes up before the "Windows" logo. This will bring you to the bios. In the bios.... DONT TOUCH A THING UNLESS IT IS LISTED HERE!!!! Find the boot-up sequence options. Its in one of the menus. When you do, press enter and change the boot-up sequence. 1st boot = Boot from CD-ROM 2nd boot = Boot from Hard Drive 3rd boot = Boot from floppy Then exit and save. It will restart the PC. Put in the windows XP CD. The computer will bring up the whole thing on how to install it. Its all automatic for the most part. Just click normal install, and not express when it prompts you. Go through the long process. When its all said and done, make sure you have your driver CDs. If you dont, your screwed. Even if you dont have all of them, you can just download them from the official websites (which is what you should do anywayz). However, you still need to the motherboard drivers installed, so your internet works. Then you can download the rest. When all said and done, repeat the first process i said, about the Windows toll free number. Do that, and you should be up and running. Edited Mon Jul 14 2008, 03:03AM |

Yeah, so NVM to everyone. before I checked Glitch's post, I already Steam messaged Bob and he ran me through everything. However, I'm confused because I rebooted from the CD I entered, since it's a Vaio it doesnt have a Key to boot it, but it never asked me for a Product Key. So I'm confused. but, now I'm gonna have more questions as to setting up the internet and everything, lol. So this thread can be locked, but I will be making more asking questions. EDIT: I have installed Windows XP professional successfully, however, a fucking windows icon keeps popping up near the time saying "when are you going to activate windows, you have 30 days," so should I still do the thing that Glitch said? cause I'm getting sick of "activating windows" WHEN I'M FUCKING USING IT!! This usually means you had a major hardware (driver installs and the like) change. call the number like glitch said. they will go through the steps with you. then they will give you a new key you will put it in and your windows is activated. |

here is some direct microsoft support for you The re-activation failure issue occurs because the installation of certain hardware updates, and device drivers may have reset the hardware configuration database. This information is used to trace any big hardware change. If the hardware change exceeds an allowed situation, it will trigger the re-activation of the Operating System. This feature is designed to protect an activated Operating System from being cloned from one computer to another computer which doesn't comply with the EULA (End User License Agreement) of the Microsoft Windows Operating System. When trying to re-activate online, if the Product Key of the current system has already been registered it is normal to receive the message that the Product Key is in use. At this point, we will need to re-activate the system via the Automatic Phone Activation System. For your convenience, I would like to provide the following information to help you activate the system. Step 1: Locate the toll-free phone number and the installation ID =========================================== 1. Click the Start button, type "SLUI.EXE 4" (without the quotation marks) in the search box, and press Enter. Note: There is a space between "SLUI.EXE" and "4". 2. Select the nearest location, and click Next. Note: The operation requires administrative privileges. Please click "Continue" when the User Account Control dialog-box appears. 3. The "Windows Activation" window will appear with a toll-free phone number, such as 1-866-740-1256 (for the United States). At the same time, the installation ID will display as the following format: xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx – xxxxxx 4. Please write down the phone number and the installation ID. Now, let’s call the Phone Activation Center to enter the recorded installation ID. Microsoft Product Activation system will then generate a confirmation ID and return it to you. This ID is to activate Window Vista on your computer. For your convenience, I have included the detailed steps below: Step 2: Dial the phone number to contact the Phone Activation Center ============================================ Note: Microsoft Product Activation is completely anonymous, and no personally identifiable information is collected. The entire activation process will take about 5 minutes to accomplish. Your patience is appreciated. 1. Please listen carefully to the automatic phone system instructions and select the correct option to choose for activating Windows Vista products. 2. According to the voice instruction, please enter the installation ID group by group. 3. Please wait a moment. Then, a confirmation ID will be returned from the automatic phone activation system. Please write down the confirmation ID. If we encounter problems during the automatic phone activation process, we can select an appropriate option according to the voice instructions to be redirected to a customer service representative for direct assistance. Step 3: Activate Windows Vista using the confirmation ID =========================================== 1. On the Windows Vista computer, please enter the confirmation ID returned from the Microsoft phone activation system, in the boxes of the Windows Activation window and click "Next". 2. Please follow the onscreen steps to complete the system activation process. What’s the result? Please let me know if the activation succeeds. In addition, as Windows Vista has been released for some time, we may encounter the following message and behavior if the activation period has expired: ****************************** When starting Microsoft Windows Vista, we may receive the following error messages: Activate Windows Now Your activation period has expired and Windows is no longer working. To use Windows you must activate this copy of Windows. In Addition, if the computer has passed the activation grace period (30 days), the taskbar and the Start button will disappear. In this case, you will only have limited access to Windows Vista programs and features. ****************************** Regarding this behavior, we have a related Knowledge Base (KB) article. For your reference, I have included its link below. Error message when you start Windows Vista: "Your activation period has expired" -[link]- Please activate Windows Vista according to the website directions. |
