Or anyone else. Starting today, my fps has dropped by an average of 30 (to about 40), I'm getting a choke of about 1-3, and I have no idea why. My cl_cmdrate is 100 and my cl_updaterate was capped to 60 by a server for whatever reason, so I changed it back to 100 to no avail. My lat was about 15 points higher too (around 30 to 40). Halp, I need to practice inferno but I'm warping too much. (P.S. my network is secure. I do not use wireless. I don't know the speccs to my computer.) (P.S.S. I think it might have something to do with overheating, but it's never been a problem even in hot weather.) |

server locations? See how it varies from region to region try LA, Chicago, Dallas, and NYC (or Pennsylvania) |

It's not server location. This is happening on FTC, and Chicago is the closest host to Cincinnati that I've played on. | ||

Um when I have any degrade in performance, I do a handy defrag w/ my O&O Professional 10 64 bit edition. It is often over looked on the importance of a maintained hard drive but that is where you load up the files from. So if your hard drive has to work harder it will reduce your over all performance which makes it seem sluggish "drop in FPS". So the easiest solution? Just try a simple defrag. I love my O&O since its fast and very efficient. Mainly used on actual servers with tons of files so it is a powerful defrager. Future note if you have tech support questions I will check when I get back from work. So just leave it here at night and I will get you about it before you wake up. Okay, I ran a defrag to no avail. I checked out the info on my video card. It's a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT. I think it's probably a temperature problem, but I don't know. Alex is kind enough to offer is support, so hopefully I'll be able to work my shit tomorrow. |

Bear, it can be normal if you have power saving features on, and are running vista.. Fuck vista. Turn those options off(ie, power saving bs), and then defrag and turn your monitor off.. Who watches that shit? Read the reports. TPS and shit. Bandy.. It sounds like an overheating problem due to dust or you or family members smoking.. I know you keep your door shut due to jerking off constantly, so we rule that out. Make sure you have proper venthilation in the case, ie, fans. Test a ratio of input vs output on the fans. Make sure you're getting enough intake, but make sure the exhaust exceeds it a bit more. Make sure your card is blown out.. Also, update and replace your drivers. If it's not that, then it could be a northbridge issue.. good luck buddy.. we're here if you need further instructions. |
