I just hate it cause its outdated. otherwise you cant beat the fact that someone else built it for me so I didnt ruin it, and it came with a FREE 4 year warranty, which I used twice. dells are bad. All dells of mine from back in the day (with the exception of the one my father upgraded) sucked, including all my friends dells, and relatives dells. When you buy one, they give you all outdated shit. And it just blows. Fuck dell, fuck life, /wrists. | ||

Ram is ram, "outdated" or not. A fan is a fan, "outdated" or not, etc etc. The only thing is the graphics card, which you should upgrade yourself anyways unless you're an idiot. kd Dell's have long history of "being bad." Mostly the case like everyone else has said comes from the parts. The old saying that you can't upgrade parts of a dell without sending it back to the manufacturer was when it first started and about 60% of them had parts that were soldered in. Now a days, the parts are either a) outdated or b) mixed and match. If you take apart 50 dells, most likely you'll find that perhaps 5 if even that, have completely identical parts. Everything else is mix and matched. Also, it is because of people who say "ram is ram" that more bad rep comes from the name. Everything has response times man, if you're paying $1300 for something thats marketed as "the fastest machine" and you get shit ram of course you're not gonna like the company. the response times (lets take kingston for example) are going to horrible if you take value ram and compare it to hyper x sticks. I'll tell you one thing though, I work as a PC tech, done IS support for alot of companies, and troubleshooted many computers throughout high school and 8/10 computers that have problems coming in are dell. I dunno why everyone doesn't like MAC's though. For vid/pic editing and creation they're amazing machines (secret lies in ram management). I think people don't truly hate the machines but rather the snobby users. |

I am in the computer fixing business, (Firedog lol) and I always get 4-8 year old dells to be worked on. Does that mean good, or bad? I don't understand why someone would want to have a computer for 6 years, but whatever. New dells are overpriced, and have bad costumer service. Alright, Topic change since Dells are now pieces of shit and ive come to the conclusion that I need to upgrade. Ive heard name's of computer products thrown around. $875 spending limit. What's the best I can get for that bitches? Like someone else said, get combo deals otherwise its pointless to pay full pop. I need Motherboard: RAM: Processor: Video Card: Sound Card: HDD: also some cheap fans, and maybe some Neon green lighting? fucking hate blue, I need green and black. oh oh oh pick me! pick me! i know! i know! it's the shitty service with the shitty products!!! i mean wait.. no.. the service is great IF you spend $500000 on warranty, otherwise YOU'RE FUCKED they will advertise their shit as 120gb harddrive or 1gb of ram but the 120gb harddrive is probably 5400 rpm with a shit buffer and response time and the ram will have shitty timings and clock speed. that's how dell makes fuckloads of profit. and after reading the posts: Motherboard: you gotta decide on this after the cpu and vid card. if you get an intel CPU you will need to grab a mobo with the correct socket. if you grab an ATI card get a crossfire board. etc etc RAM: get ddr2 ram with 4-4-4 timings @ 800mhz.. you should be able to grab 2gb worth for less than $90 CDN. try OCZ Processor: very cheap these days. grab an E6750 or something. it should be approx $200 Video Card: i picked up an 8600GT for $150 last month. runs css very well Sound Card: most new motherboards will have digital in as well as analog so no worries HDD: i just got a seagate barracuda 320gb hdd with 16mb buffer and 4.16ms response time for $90CDN + tax Edited Mon Feb 11 2008, 03:41AM |
