Ok, so I finally figured out why I am lagging; pretty much whenever I fire my gun, change weapons, or look at another player my ping jumps up to something rediculous like 150 - 300 and my fps drops to about 10 (and only when I do these things, my ping and fps are normal the rest of the time). My choke is normal the whole time, but the ping visible to everyone else stays normal (in the menu with all the player scores). Anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it? | ||

First. If its ONLY when you do those things, you are sending too many packets to the server to register, or just cant even send the minimum. My problem was my router and connection couldnt even send the minimum to play on the server, so that might also be your problem. Because ive fixed my rates over and over, but the problem was not being able to send enough, not Not Knowing how many I should send at a time(choke issues) what sort of connection and router are you on? May I suggest a Linksys with Boost or a gaming router? Edited Tue Dec 11 2007, 05:02AM |

If that is the problem, then the linksys boost routers are pretty good, basically anything linksys is full of win. I have the one that has wireless and wired built in, and it's great for PCing with the wired and laptop with the wireless. Never failed me. Just don't, for the love of penis, get a gaming router. |

I have a dell router, but I doubt that is the cause because I havent had any of these problems till recently and I haven't messed around with it at all. Also my laptop is wired to the router via ethernet cable, so I got a faster connection than just wireless internet. I'll play around with my rates cause I'd really rather not mess around with my router. | ||

Ok, so I reset my router and sure enough... nothing changed. The thing may be a POS but it seems to be working fine. | ||
