Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

OK, here is a good one for you. Timewarner in home networking with a Netgear wireless router. I have forwrded the ports for CS and WoW. Problem comes in when the Mrs. gets and incoming call with the Voice Over IP Router. ( A Separate Router which is plugged into the Netgear Router). I am not sure how to locate the IP for that router and forward it also? I am guessing this would fix the issue. Everytime a call comes in I lose connection to the game. The reverse is also true if she is on the phone and I boot up the game, she loses connection. Sounds like collision to me but since I am not an expert, I wanted to see if anyone has had a similar expeirence of this kind of issue and what possible solutions there may be. Thank you in advance - Caveman |

Let me think back to my networking days.(Yeah, I'm only 16, but I used to deal with this stuff quite a bit). So, main router, that's your netgear. Computer plugged into that. VoIP router also plugged into that. Sounds like they're both trying to use the same IP. Go into your Netgear router config(I assume you know how to do that, it's specific for every router). Find a section that lists all the connected devices and their IPs. See if there's anything fishy there, then get back to me. The only other explanation...oh wait, this would make a lot more sense... I think the VoIP is trying to use one of the same ports that's used somewhere in the games. Try changing the port used on your VoIP router(I hope you know how to do that, I'm not familiar with them), and see if that works. Get back to me, we'll think of more stuff if necessary. |

That's what I thought. Looks like the phone doesn' use a static ip so I think while I am here at work, I will call Vonage and see if they have the range I should use, if any and see if I can get ir programmed this evening. If that doesn't work, I will kick her out so I can play my game in peace! Thanks for the quick response and I will let you know how this unfolds. I love a good mystery. |

I have vonage also, and a network certification. My professional opinion is Vonage sucks dick, but its real cheap. Theres 2 options, neither are good: 1) make your vonage router the primary router (makes CS and internet slower) 2) make your netgear router the primary (makes vonage suck even more) You cant play games while on the phone, you cant download, you cant do jack shit or else you lose voice quality. Hope that helped |

Kremit - I agree, I think vonage will be dumped soon. No static IP adress is bull shit in my opnion so CS>Vonage. Thank you very much all for your help and I hope this is read by anyone else who might run into the similar problem being that the problem was Vonage. Very helpful, thanks again. | ||
