i plan on buying 512mb of ram for my laptop but im pretty clueless on which is best. i'll just list 3 different ones from a circuit city ad, hopefully someone can tell me the difference between them and which is best. 1. 512MB PC2700/2100 333MHz DDR 2. 512MB PC2-4200 533MHz DDR2 SODIMM 3. 512MB DDR SDRAM 400MHz SODIMM i assume higher mhz is better...but i have no idea what the other stuff is, which would be best to boost gaming performance? |

You're gonna need to include what type of laptop you're running. I'm not sure if it's compatible with DDR2. But here's a quick rundown of what the other stuff means. The "MHz" is the bandwidth. In other words, how fast your RAM communicates with the rest of your computer. PC2700 means exactly the same thing as 333MHz. PC3200 = 400MHz, PC-4200 = 533MHz, and so on. Is it necessary that you buy from Circuit City? If you tell me the brand and model of laptop, I can find you some really good RAM for pretty cheap that you can buy online. Let me know, I'll do what I can. |

ive got a dell inspiron 9300, its a little over a year old. i dont have to buy from circuit city, i just saw some ads for ram in the newspaper. if you could tell me what sites to search that would do, thanks for the help Edited Sun Jun 18 2006, 07:08PM | ||

I just read a review of that laptop that said it already came with 512. Are you saying you want another 512? Because in that case you'll need to buy two 512 sticks, since right now you have 256x2. Unless you're going to trash one of the 256s and run 768. Either way, let's see. The laptop uses DDR2, so I'll see what I can find... -[link]- Check out the stuff listed there. Find out what you have in now, the PC####, and match what you buy with it. |
