| Hammer Noob needs help | ||

Ok so i start hammer up. I go to hit new and i get this message that i have to configure it. Ok so fair enough i say, i go to configure it and i cant find my game... its not there. There is no CSS folder, no HL2 folder.. just Steam, Valve, thats it... Where is it oh lords of map making? Edited Fri Jul 06 2007, 09:22PM |

You don't have CSS or HL2 installed apparently, or at least to the right folder.. They should be in C/program files/steam(or valve)/your steam name/steamapps/counter strike source (or hl2) |

Alrite this is how to set up Valve Hammer Editor: Go to Steam (the program). Then go to the tools section it's next to the game section. Then go to Source SDK. Download it and install it. Then run it down at the bottom there is a bar change the game to Counter Strike: Source. Then up at the top there is a link to open open Hammer Editor. Open it up and it will be all set up and good to go. If it doesn't work send me a message on Xfire (hunansux). -Swift |

sounds like you already installed it, but did not designate whether you are making a map for HL2 or CSS etc. when you load source sdk (the window with hammer in it) there should be a drop down menu at the bottom where it says Half life 2 (this is the default i think). switch that to counter strike source. fyi all files made in Hammer are saved in the *sourcesdk_content* folder |

i remember when i had to configure it, it gave me a prompt and asked if i wanted help to configure, i clicked yes and it brought me to a site that told be EVERYTHING i had to put for everything. and after that it was fine. | ||

i installed Hammer 3.4 thats why. Now i got the SDK crap and it installed and everything. Now my problem is mostly that when i make a box on the grid i cant see what i made... Anyway... ill figure it out eventually. Where did we get the textures for the Mario | ||

you cant see the box cause there is no camera on the map. as soon as you make the box, just clik inside it with the camera tool, then find your way out of the box in the live view. | ||
