Therefore, if you are missing a buddy list there is going to be a ton of other people that are also missing their buddy lists. But the would only happen if the server crashed. However, the server would have fell over automatically to a backup server which would have had the buddy list files saved on it. So the user would have never known the difference. IF, and this is a big if, there was corrupted data and they had to wipe the server completely, something would have been sent out to the users about this issue or posted on the AIM website. I haven't seen anything up to this point about that. My suggestion is to run an up to date virus scan. Most of the issues with buddy lists being deleted is because the user downloaded or had a virus on their system that wiped out their buddy list.
