Alright, so you all should know now that I own a shitty 2 year old Dell. go fuck yourself Now that you know that, I now need help. My school, as small as it is, gets a lot of grants for computers. And when they break, they just chuck them out in the garbage(sent to a computer recycler) But.... Lately ive been asking for some laptops they throw out, and I noticed this SEXY Black one, that they finally gave to me its a Mac Powerbook G3. only problem is, it wont turn on. The computer techs at school didnt know what was wrong with it and said it may be the processor, it may be the battery. they just dont know. I want to get this computer up and running, but I checked the specs for it on the bottom, and its SHIT!! this laptop sucks, lol. But, I like the model, and I want to fix it up if its cheap enough. Here are the specs for the most part: Powerbook g3-400 pismo cpu 400mhz ppc 750 (a.k.a. g3) level 2 cache 1 mb video ati rage mobility 128 vram 8 mb 'hard drive 6g' dvd-rom yes usb ports two firewire ports two 10/100base-t ethernet and v.90 56k modem 4 mbps irda pc card slot osx installed (with office os9 drivers usb bluetooth yo-yo power adapter the battery lasts for just under two hours when playing a music video dvd I looked up what the powerbook was and got that information and thats what mine is. shitty HD, shitty everything. But I want to upgrade it and fix it. and MAYBE even get Mac OSx Tiger for it. Give me advice on what to do other then throw it out. I want to get cheap parts, but make it look and run good for a laptop so I can bring it places. Please help, and give me advice on where to get cheap parts. um, you can't upgrade mac hardware without sending it to them. mac hardware costs an arm and a leg. but yeah, it's all proprietary so don't expect to go on newegg and buy better shit for it. mac shit only works with mac shit. if it wasn't for this gayness, i would probably own a couple. |

Step 1 - Throw out all the mac parts. Step 2 - Replace the case Step 3 - Put PC parts in the case GL BRO! |

I figured it would be like this... lol. The only way I would get a Mac if it was like this, for free. It just sucks becuase Powerbooks stopped getting made in 2006, for a reason. They suck. I just wanted a spare computer, and I guess Macs just arent the job for it. Thanks guys, I figured this would be its fate. Thanks though |
