Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Me and omni have been having wretched source problems, and he has unfortunately had to get a whole new computer system entirely just to play this game smoothly and without problems. I on the other hand, do not have the necessary funds to pay anything over $300 for a computer, or to upgrade, so that is out of the picture for me. But, what I would like to know is: Is it possible to Reformat my entire computer and reinstall ALL necessary default programs without ANY CDS? If so, how? When I go to Add/Remove Programs, I see these two things. Dell System Restore, and windows installer. -[link]- -[link]- I dont have any of my windows CD's, so I dont want to risk anything. But ive heard its possible to reformat with just the sticker on top of your desktop and a program I already have installed(which I think is the ones I have posted here) Please help me, and possibly omni if he chooses to do this also. Its a bitch not being able to play with you guys... and even worse to go into a server, and get booted and causing everyone to lag and bitch at whoever is causing the lag. Its me, and I need help if I am ever gonna play again!! thanks in advance for any help.. |

dell system restore i'm pretty sure is the option to 'save' your computer's current memory and creates a backup. but you're supposed to save it before hand. so if you didn't. you're screwd because you have no 'previous state' to go back to. and windows installer is the program window uses to install things. sometimes when you install something you'll see windows installer come up and say "setting up for installation" or something. so those two don't really help much. actually i'm pretty interested in if theres a way too. because i have so much shit on my comp i wanna get rid of them. |

thanks ninca, you fucker, help me!! also. I noticed in "System Tools" something that reads "system restore: restore system to chosen restore point". Could this be what I speak of? is this the one ring to rule them all? is this what I should do? Im afraid to push the button without guidance. help |

All system restores are is a saved state of the computer that is randomly saved (you can choose save points yourself as well as they are automatic). What it does is, at the time chosen, all the programs/every download etc you did after that time is wiped off the computer, and it "restores" to the state the computer was at that time. Can't do any harm, you'd just need to RE-Download/install any programs.

Yes Zero. Your computer should have set points that it automatically saves the state your computer is in. Usually it creates a save point either before or after major system updates just in case shit goes wrong but I don't remember. Either way, there is save points on there. Just click it and it will bring up a calendar that shows you where your computer has save points.

Is this the same as reformating, or can viruses STILL be in my hdd? EDIT: I wont double post but I have more questions because I want to have CSS working by tonight so I can pwn thy n00bs and grenade tag you fags (only crazyassmonkey will understand that ) Anyways, same question as up top. and also, I understand I have to redownload shit, but shit like music and pictures, how do I make sure I dont lose them, and they dont have viruses so I can put them back on my comp after system restore? I have like 6000 MP3's, so it would take forever transporting them to my old computer directly, whats the easiest way to keep my important files, and make sure they wont hurt my computer(viruses) when they get back on here? This sounds Groovy. However, if I would do the same thing, it wouldn't get rid of my graphics card drivers that I had installed a couple of months back when I got my new card. I'm anxious to see if this would fix any lag problem that I have ingame as well considering my pc should not run as shitty as it does. At the moment since I pretty much skimmed through what was said, I will have to re-read it later on to get a basic understanding of what to do. Keep posting on this and how you do it and I'll be reading. I might actually give this a shot!
