Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

So I'm trying to think of a good monitor to get for when I go away for college, and I'll probably be getting one this summer. Right now I've been using an 18" CRT, just some very standard one that we picked up at BJ's. I'm fairly certain that I'd want to go for a widescreen, probably 1440x900. Better for movies, a much better aspect ratio (than the horror that is 5:4), and probably just all around better. But have any of you guys played fps and other games on a widescreen? How does it work out? I don't want to be completely messed up when I try counter strike on it. Also, what's a good size screen if I were to go widescreen? I was thinking 19" or 20/21", but I have no experience, and I can't just take one home for the weekend to see what's good. Any other suggestions you guys have would be much appreciated. |

I definately love my widescreen, and won't play games on anything else now. Steam has a special setting under the video options for widescreen monitors, so there's no distortion to worry about. It's great because I have a wider field of veiw than on a regular monitor, so I can see more in my periferals that someone else with a regular monitor. Problem is, you graphics card has to be suped up to support this.

angry is right, make sure your vid card can handle the extra load of a widescreen before you get one. you can get a decent 19" for 300-400 bucks. anything bigger and the prices jump up...but it will look cooler

Thanks all. Good to know that widescreen actually helps for fpss. If what I'm thinking is right, then running at 1440x900 means a total of 1,296,000 pixels displayed. I'm currently running at 1024x768, which is 786,432 pixels, and your standard lcd at 1280x1024 would be 1,310,720 pixels, so 1440x900 would be somewhere in the middle.

you can get a 22" LG beast of a monitor, with 2ms refresh rates and 3000:1 contrast for 399... and right now im using a 32" LCD HDTV as my monitor, and its running perfectly fine with CS
