Yo, I'm going with a firend right now to buy a laptop for him. He can spend up to $1000, im guessing, and is thinking of getting -[link]- What do you think? Can you gimme some quick advice as to what to look for when buying a laptop? This will be his main comp, as he sold his PC yesterday. He downloads ALOT of movies/music, so I'm guessing he needs a hell lot of memory. He's not a gamer, so graphics card isn't that big of a deal. |

I don't think it's too bad bleek. It's running a dual core processor with a gig of ram and a 120GB hard drive. Doesn't seem too bad. I had a Toshiba Satellite back in the day when I was in college. It ran pretty well for everything I needed which was music, papers for classes, CS, instant messenger, and porn. LOLs!!  I'm a huge fan of Dell laptops as I've had two of them now but I use Apple at work and I f'in love it. I haven't priced out an Apple recently but I would rather get an Apple. The Toshiba doesn't look too bad though.

for $1000 you can get something with 120-160gig harddrive, and 2 gigs of ram with a bit faster processor -[link]- | ||

ninca is right, but I'd take the toshiba with less ram than the gateway any day, you can upgrade later anyways. and the CPU isnt bad at all. Its an average price, not a DEAL but its worth it. | ||

I had a bunch of friends in college that had Gateway's and had horrible luck with them. One of them I would consider a fluke but all of them had issues. So, yeah I'm not a fan of Gateways and would definitely rather have a Toshiba. But, seriously tell him to get an Apple if he could.
