Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Did you actually fill your whole HDD? Go to the store, buy a new HDD. For the example below your current HDD is HDD2 and the new HDD is HDD1. Install HDD1 as boot drive, install windows/linux/mac/or whatever OS you want. Copy everything vital from HDD2 to HDD1. Done. |

By replacing it yeah... otherwise its somewhat out of your realm of expertise. I know this because its considerably outside mine. You need to open the HDD in a clean room, replace the wearing parts and put it back together. Not as easy as it sounds. |

If it isn't under warranty, I would recommend buying another one real real soon. Clicking in your hard drive is no bueno chief. If it's a WD or Seagate they have a free utility that can clone your drive over to a new one and they are super easy to use.

disconnect all your case fans first before buying anything. Then start the computer up with the case open and pin point where the sound is coming from. It is either a wire in a fan or it is your HDD. See HDD's have platter, discs that look like CDs but smaller, and lots more moving mechanical parts. They do click when they are dying or a part is busted. When you turn on your computer your HDD starts up too and starts spinning. During this cycle the broken piece may or may not make a noise. After it reaches a certain RPM it may stop. Could be the bearing on the platter causing it to not be balanced at a certain RPM who knows... But make sure you know for sure where the noise is coming from before you spend any money. |

Too bad 1TB SSDs aren't cheap yet, because SSDs are the way to go for longevity.

If it's a wire clipping a fan you have to give me that hdd with all the data still on it. I promise I'll erase it immediately. |
