Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Night_Ninja wrote ... yea i plan on playing newer games to so im looking to upgradeThese might be a bit overkill for CS and LoL...not sure about CS:GO. Are you planning on playing new games, like directx11 and shit, or just CS and LoL? [quote] I would love to know what else is in your system...mainly the processor and the power supply (processor to determine bottleneck if any, and power supply to see what card you can actually power up) but if you are capping out at $150 then one of these... -[link]- -[link]- (more cuda cores) -[link]- (after rebate you hit $150) [/quote1343082334] My specs are pretty shitty. I think i made a thread about the exact parts i bought and the general consensus was that I dun goofed but it's been runnin' pretty smooth so....processor is pentium dual-core E6500 2.93 GHz PSU i think is Antec 550 plus also I'd be willing to go over my max if you STRONGLY recommend a vid card and it'll last me a while |

If you wanna go pass your budget with a strong recommendation...well that can go as far as anything...and that is the reason for a budget. I can recommend you 2 other cards that are above the budget. Right off the bat I will tell you that no matter which card you buy from this point on, it will be bottlenecked by that CPU so in the future you will need to upgrade. I hope your current power supply has two free 6pin connectors to power most cards from this point on as well. Now, if you do not want to go above your budget, go for the 3rd one i previously listed. It is a good card. The rebate brings it back down to your budget. If you in fact feel you can go above it...then check out this -[link]- This card is a powerful lil fucker and will last you a long time. You will even notice a massive improvement after upgrading your CPU down the line. If you wanna spend even more... then grab this... -[link]- $30 mail-in-rebate or the MSI equivalent for a bit less (i run MSI cards...they are built with all new parts and have same warranty as EVGA). That card can compete with a GTX580. It wont surpass it...but it is a contender. I would trade my GTX460 SLI setup for that one card (I wont do SLI anymore...too much of a pain in the ass). Anymore questions feel free to ask. Edited Tue Jul 24 2012, 12:42AM |

i thought SLI was just in case you wanted to have 2 of the same vid card running on one rig at the same time to relieve stress or something like that | ||

Thats a sexy Card Knight just saying, lol whats wrong with Nvidia back in the day those cards where the shit There is nothing wrong with Nvidia. In the case of buying a card on a budget, you get better price to performance ratio with AMD cards. ehhh yes and no. Depends on the needs and the games played. Lot of popular games have better support for the green team and that is one of the major reasons why i stay with green. In terms of CSGO or CSS it doesnt matter as both teams have great support. Personally i would not go any lower than a 560. For comparison...just one of my GTX460 HAWKS played BF3 on Max settings with 2xAA and 16x AF at 50FPS. Both of my GTX460's max the game out with 4xAA and 16xAF at way over 60fps so i keep vsync on and it is butter. There is only 1 game that causes both my cards to struggle and that is Metro 2033. I run that game at max settings WITH tessellation at 35fps. So i lower the shadow and one of the texture settings down 1 notch to keep it above 50fps. The 60 version of any Nvidia series is a really good budget card. The GTX560 is absolutely stunning. Just one of those cards can almost catch up to my SLI setup. That is how much an improvement the 500 series was over the 400 series. That may be for when the card is brand new. A few driver updates and you're fine. My fiance's brother has a 6950 in his rig that I built for him and it maxes out everything. In the higher price range cards, Nvidia outperforms AMD. In the mid to lower price range, AMD outperforms Nvidia. He's going for something mid to low range. Spending a few extra bucks to get 5 FPS more isn't worth it, he should just go with something that can run everything out now (like the card I linked him) and he'll be fine. |
