Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

So I reinstalled steam finally the other day, and quickly installed CSS with intentions of playing tonight. However, for some fucked up reason, every time I open steam my computer locks up and I have to reboot. I've tried reinstalling, repairing, deleting clientregistry.blob, pretty much anything i can think of doing. It runs in safe mode, but won't run regularly. I've scanned for malware and viruses, ran checkdisk, defragged my drive, cleaned it up, rubbed a little jizz on the platter... seriously I've tried everything I can think of. I tried googling the problem and everything was outdated and unhelpful. Have any of you guys had this problem and is there a solution out there?

First off, go into your event log and check your application logs. If you can't find any Criticals or Errors, check your system log. If you're going to be going to school for IT, one of the most important aspects of your job will be troubleshooting via the event log. Second, what are the specs of your computer? Third, where do you have your Steam installation stored?

I have had minimal experience with event viewer (we barely brushed over it in class), but I did check to see if there was anything but I didn't see anything. The only mentions of steam were the installations. As for my specs, that shouldn't be a problem. i7, 8GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive. This laptop is a beast Steam is installed where it should be, in the program files. Every time i open it, it tries to update before it crashes, and as soon as it hits 100% the update stops and my computer hangs. |

How long have you sat there waiting for it to unfreeze? Patience definitely is a virtue, especially in IT. Also, what make/model is your laptop?

See I don't know if this is a common occurrence from all of ASUS gaming laptops or what. My brother had this problem except it was with EVERYTHING he tried to install. Something about that split partition setup they have going that causes it to happen. Can you confirm you have a split partition?

Amped wrote ... Try running as administrator. lol i wouldnt be surprised. This seems like a hard drive problem or a sata controller issue since it only happens when it "updates." Do you get any blue screens at all? Does this happen when you launch steam or when you launch a game from steam? If this the only program that does this? Do you have a split partition? |

Is it possible you have more than one antivirus/antimalware on there? Are you firewall permissions set to allow port 27015 (steam gaming client port)? Run Asus Update (software suite that comes with Asus computers). Check for latest video drivers (on amd website). If all else fails run this: -[link]- and check for any odd partitions that don't seem legit (ie a 100MB partition with no label, however, don't confuse this with Asus's hidden recovery partition which tends to be around 15-18GB) I've been seeing a lot of this infection going around lately, and it tends to affect each computer differently, making it do weird things.

I do have three partitions. The ASUS recovery one, my primary one, and one for all my torrents. I updated my video drivers, ran asus update, and ran that rootkit tool, no dice. Tried running as administrator... no dice. Ran chkdsk and there were no errors so my hard drive is fine, but it does seem like it could be that type of an issue. Other than that, I'm stumped
