So I've got all of my computer parts in, everything hooked up and running except all of the RAM. The computer is only recognizing one stick out of the 3 2GB sticks I bought. Ive tried - resetting the cpu -loosening and re-tightening the mobo screws -trying every possible configuration of RAM stick installation -pressing the little RAM button or what ever on the mobo to reset it -taking out the mobo battery and resetting it I've tried all I can think of and most of what I read on the net, still to no satisfaction, its shitting the bed and making me quite pissed off. Im calling the tech support from the company to walk me through some solutions, but I thought maybe some of you would have some helpful input. Thanks |

Sorry, yea windows 7. Right now, I have the Ram stick in channel c1 and b1, but its only reading the c1 stick. If i put the third one in a1 it still only reads c1... So thats why I just have 2 in, was hoping it would recognize after a restart but it didnt lol |

This may just be an asus thing, but aren't you supposed to arrange the sticks in a1, a2, a3, then populate the b channel in the same way? It's possible you could have some RMA ram too, who makes it? | ||

Could be a few things. For one, ASUS mobo's differ. Mine i have to populate all of the "a" slots which means a1 a2 a3. My friends ASUS mobo you have to populate all of the "1" slots such as a1 and b1. Windows 7 is another issue. Now i cannot remember if it was Vista or Windows 7, but if it wasnt SP1 then only one stick was recognized on boot until you updated it. If that doesnt work then just update the BIOS to the most recent version. That usually solves all your problems with RAM... only if the RAM is working correctly. Did you run Memtest? And what ASUS mobo you running? |
