Well first off, it's two 2d arrays [][] to populate the arrays, you want to use a nested loop (outer loop = columns, inner loop = rows maybe a loop inside that for dashes) The number of dashes decrements every time, you should use a variable for this that is decremented every time the inner dash loop fires The numbers that increase you can use a variable created within the outer loop that starts at 1, and increases every time the inner loop fires to populate the array use [outer loop variable] [inner loop variable] for the second array, just do everything in reverse This can also be done recursively, which I highly recommend learning, since it is more efficient, and you'll probably be learning it later on in your class. Hope the algorithms help, i really don't remember a whole lot of java at the moment. |
