...I reformatted my computer and backed up all my music on my iPod. Now I'm trying to transfer all my music back onto the computer, but when I sync it up, nothing happens. Is there any way for me to get my music back onto my computer without doing anything drastic like jail-breaking the iPod? | ||

might be able to recover it all from itunes if you bought it, but you should have backed it up externally. | ||

Damn. I have a partial backup that I was able to complete before I lost the ability to copy/paste, but it's still missing a lot of songs. | ||

there is a similar program you can use if the one kcow posted doesnt work but it cost $$$ and next time back it up as a mp3 FILE on the ipod. (i.e treat it as a external hdd not a ipod) |

Wait... do you have the music on your iPod still? If so, PM me and I can show you how to save it back onto your computer. Or, follow this. -Go to iTunes, with your iPod connected to your computer. -Select the "Your iPod" on the left sidebar. -Check "Enable Disc Use". (If you don't see these options, hit "register later" or something along those lines. You will then be brought to the screen with "Enable Disc Use"). -In "My Computer", Port F (at least on my cpu) will be accessible. -Select the iPod port -Select "iPod_Control" -Select "Music" -There will be several named folders. On my cpu, they are labeled "F00" to "F13". -Copy all of these folders and paste to Desktop. Depending on the amount of music, this will take a little while. -Select all these folders and move them to your iTunes music folder. They will then be organized and renamed to their original settings. -If you wish, disable disc use. You can sticky this as a guide to use your iPod as a portable music storing hard-drive. That doesn't technically "Jail-Break" my iPod, does it? I don't really care regardless, but it worked for me when I bought this computer, and I just tested it again, and it works. | ||
