alright so i finally put a rig together but am having troubles getting it started... got a new mobo, cpu, psu, and vid card but now can't get it to run mobo -[link]- ram -[link]- cpu -[link]- psu -[link]- vid card -[link]- |

lol i know i know the cpu is way behind the other parts in my comp but well.. i ran outa money so figured i could get by with it.. it is lga775 and at 3.2 ghz i figured if it will hold me off for a while i wanna buy a quad core someday so... but ya for the first day i put everything in and it would start up but give me a blank screen.. and not just a black screen but my button on my monitor made it look like the computer was in sleep mode so i got frustrated and gave up for that day.. i come back the next day plug everything in and all it does is flicker on for like half a second then nothing... so if i could find out a way to figure out if its the cpu... i can buy a new one for like $70 and move on and hope it will work... but if its the mobo then i need to know real soon so i can send it back to newegg and gets me a new one... another thought is that maybe the psu has something wrong with it? but i kinda doubt it because i do still get a flicker out of it.. |

sounds like its the mobo. swap it out and see if that fixes the problem. | ||

If your getting just a blank screen... like the monitor is on, but no signal... its possible its the mobo... or vid card. I had a similar problem once, and it turned out to be the mobo. Here's what you should do. First put the Video card into another computer and start it up in safe mode so you dont get conflicting driver issues. This is just to see if you get picture... if you do then the Video card is putting out a signal and its 95% a mobo problem. The reason you start with the video card is because its the easiest thing to start off with... its a pain in the ass to take all your components so start with the simplest one. Did you hook up the mobo speaker? (If it even comes with one)... cuz the beeps would give you a heads up if it was the RAM or Processor too. If the speaker is hooked up and you hear no beeps, then its more then likely a mobo problem again. You should still try and put all your parts into another mobo. Goodluck. |

alright i'll try to vid card test but no I'm not gettin any beeps but idk if thats because the mobo speakers not plugged in or anything like that cause i see place for it lol |
