Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Hai gaiz, it's me, Jesus. I need help again. Alright so my harddrive of 700 GBs is split up. 10 GB is set aside for Windows to run (Local disk C) 688 GB is left over for memory. (Local disk E) Now, I can't download any programs and nothing is organized due to having to put ALL my shit, in disk E. Is there a way I can combine these two without having to reformat/lose any memory or software on either disk, since it's all the same harddrive anyways? |

you're only using ~13 gb on the other partition. Go grab some dvd's or an external and back whatever the hell that tiny amount is. I don't really understand why you chose to do dynamic partitions over basic ones. Pain in the ass to revert, anything under XP pro don't even support it, and extension problems are always found buuuut heres what I'd do. either 1) Go dl Norton Ghost, if you need a key or are too lazy for torrents pm me, ghost your c, reformat, kill both partitions, ghost will fill up the hdd with only the C image you made before......and thats it. A little work but it'll get the jorb done. 2) Go dl Partition Magic, same shit, if you need a key or are too lazy pm me I'll find one. Success rate for dynamic partitions is pretty good, not 100% but pretty gud... but the program is built for extending, rearranging, and splitting partitions in hdds. If you're looking to avoid a reformat definitely the way to go |

Hey Zero, here is an idea: can you clean a bunch of replaceable shit off of your C drive and install it on your E drive? By "replaceable" I mean programs which will not be difficult to reinstall. 10 GB is very thin, but I run my basic install of XP on a 20 GB partition. I don't install much to that 20GB partition so I do not have to bother much with defrag'ing it. Instead of installing crap on my C drive I have separate partitions for games (again, not much dynamic data gets written there), and a "media" partition which is shamelessly fragmented by frequently written torrent data, miscellaneous downloads, etc. If you need more details I can explain, or perhaps someone else has a better plan. If that solution isn't suitable then I say go with Cha's advice. My personal experience has encouraged me to never use Dynamic partitioning; my last experience of this sort involved reformatting. Make sure you have backups of crap-you-can't-replace before you try Partition Magic or anything similar. If it doesn't work out then this is a good life lesson about doing regular backups. What would you do if your drive (I'm assuming you do not have redundant drives) crashed? |

well I am having an easy time installing shit onto the partitioned E drive (688 GB), but My Pictures, My Movies, My Music, My Desktop, is all on the partitioned ten gigs. So every time I have to download something without being able to choose C or E drive, so I can't. Idk, I can live with this, it's just bugging me how I keep running into small problems like this, when I could have it all onto one harddrive, not partitioned, or anything like that. I think my first step is to backup all my files. So I'll do that and then try Cha's steps to see if that will work. |
