| Need Help Playing DotA w/ Friends | ||

Cause Bnet sucks. Me and 3Stripe are trying to play DotA but we suck too bad to pub it. However we can't seem to host an AI version and actually connect to each other. It always times out saying game could not be found. Who else plays DotA? DIM? NoName? How do we play with each other since Bnet sucks ball sack? |

if you suck too bad to pug it you guys must be really bad... don't play the AI version from what i hear it's nothing like playing with real humans. do you guys play on east? |

We don't suck, but trying to join the same pug is a pain in the fuckin ass. For whatever reason we can't seem to host games either, it tells everyone who tries to join that the game cannot be found... Yes we play on east. |

Well, Wc3 sucks for hosting, because you have to configure your router to allow Warcraft 3. Now, it depends on your router (I have a wireless Linksys, so I'm going on experience. I have used other wireless routers, they're pretty much the same basic format), but essentially what you do is go on your router by going running cmd and typing ipconfig, you'll see your ip address and default gateway (I have no experience with anything but wireless routers, so don't ask). Your default gateway is your router, type that ip into your browser, type your password when you get there, etc. Go on to your "applications & gaming" or "virtual servers" etc. (stuff that sound like that), type in WC3 in the application name box, put port 6112 to 6119. On the ip address box type in the last digit(s) of your ip address. Make sure you put "enable on" it when doing this. It should work. Make sure that your actual Warcraft 3 game settings has port 6112 or 6113 (doesn't really matter which one, but keep 6112 to be safe). Again, your router might be a little different, but use common sense to figure stuff out. A lot of steps, might seem complicated but it's really not. Ask me/PM if you have troubles. I can help you guys learn faster at dota, and also can host LC if you don't want to bother with trying to host. AI is a good way to start learning dota (not exactly like pub games, an AI is pretty much more pussy and a deny-whore and has other unhuman advantages, but if played right can be countered easily). Hope I helped. Also, LC (pickup.listchecker; it's a program if you don't know) is much better for hosting on WC3, essentially it's like hosting on network game, so little to no delays. However, it's pretty much just as complicated as the router settings to have it work correctly, so PM for info on it if you really want to try it. yeah i can't ever get in to tbh anymore either. only way i ever get to play with friends is through noname cause he can host and he has his clan channel. me and noname used to AI, i don't think its worth it. best way i learned to get half way decent is by 2v2ing and maybe 3v3ing. add me and maybe we can get a clan on bnet going, then we could have a channel to idle/meet in. user name is dim |

Yeah, the channel is restricted because if there are no people in the channel, nobody but members of TBH can join the channel, therefore it's restricted to anyone else. Like I said, just add to friends. | ||

Just make sure you guys get on Steam when you play and add DotA to your non-steam games, and launch it from within steam. Then we can use steam to talk to each other.... and vent of course. | ||
