nice thread hijack. Lets get back on topic please. Honestly, this mother fucker actually changed my mind. I never believed in global warming. Thought it was a croc of shit. But thats not what this guy is saying. He is saying that whether you believe in it or not, its still ALWAYS BETTER to do something about it rather then watch it happen. Remember these are "Extremes." He didnt say U.S. ONLY should throw all their money at the problem (hence Global Depression). He said if everyone helped out. He is saying that we should at least try and put "Some" money towards the problem. At least we are doing something about it. I think he has a good point, and i cant figure out how to poke holes in it. Its a game of chance, but wouldn't you want to pick the side with the "better" possibility of winning? Well if you cant afford to loss a game of chance there is only one way cheat. I mean we got part way with investing a fair amount into research to clarify the problem. This will tell us where the future lies and if necessary ways to fix it. Most of our current means have more of a negative effect then a positive like recycling from your house has little effect at all but all the gas used to collect it creates more problems then the profit from it. However when a business like a grocery store with all it's paper boxes things get shipped in recycles all that it is very useful for the gas. In the end we got to find a line for where things are helpful to our enviorment and to where things are only helping us feel better about the problem. |

I don't really know if this problem is as immidient as he says. studies have shown that since the start of the industrial revolution (thats early 1900s) the average global temperature has increased by 1 degree. Although 1 degree F may not seem like alot, it affects the norther biomes ie: the tundra. I don't think global warming is affecting the human race as much as it affects the animals that live in those biomes. now don't go thinking im some kinda tree hugging environmentalist, im just laying facts down. That one degree has been predicted to to increase another degree by 2050. Speculations of the results of global warming are things like polar ice caps melting. yea yeah what does that have to do with us ( again more to do with wild animals). The ice caps melting would cause more water in the oceans, and many animals that live off the coral reefs in the ocean wouldn't survive because coral reefs need sun. higher water levels means less sun gets to them. Other speculations deal with other animals in the tundra, i'll stop the boring environment stuff. My main point, i guess, is that although global warming is happening, whether its us or just natural. I don't know how its affecting us in the near future. if anyone that knows about this stuff, feel free to enlighten me |
