Many people in the Westboro Baptist Church, the nuts behind godhatesfags.com as well as the people actually doing the protests, are connected to Phelps Chartered Law firm (go figure with the "Phelps" name and all  ). When WBC wants to bring a civil suit, they hire none other than Phelps Chartered as legal counsel. According to the Civil Rights Attorney's Fees Award Act of 1976: ...the court, in its discretion, may allow the prevailing party, other than the United States, a reasonable attorney's fee as part of the costs So WBC can bring a civil suit, hire Phelps Chartered, win, and the "reasonable attorney's fee's" awarded by the court would go right back into WBC's coffers. Pretty clever scam. |

I don't think this is a scam. This is a cult. Fred Phelps hates gay people to such an extreme and just passed it down through the generations. Hell, that woman's fucking kids didn't even know why they had the signs up! The kids thought it was the right thing to do, but they had no fuckin' idea what they were doing!!! | ||

The only point I was trying to bring up in my first post was that it is possible for them to profit from this. It's a convoluted process and I doubt there's much in the way of proft. However, if it provides for few a hundred more "FAG TROOPS" signs, a few more disgusting pickets at funerals, etc. then it's probably worth the legal effort for them. |
