Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Surf leet is a great map, though it has some contraversies on some matters. Most admins slay on sight for spawn jumping, but there are a few who allow it as long as you don't hurt anyone (So you cna get that extra boost). Which should be allowed? The latter may cause some problems, due to non-regulars not knowing the rules and shooting spawn jumpers. Also, there is the matter of camping. While camping is completely illegal in all surf maps, I find even admins sitting at the bottom with a sniper rifle. Is camping only allowed on leet, or are there no acceptions? Just trying to make surf leet a little more steady on it's rules. |

Camping is allowed once you complete the map. Or atleast that is what it used to be.

It no longer says that. It simply says "Absolutely no camping or spawn jumping" Edited Sun Apr 08 2007, 05:23PM

All I know is, that when I saw several admins camping at the bottom of the map, and I bitched them out for it, they just tossed more shit in my face, when they're the ones breaking rules (unless I'm mistaken). I've got the same views as buddha, the rule states absolutely no camping, yet people camp regardless.

Well the rule has always been no camping until you complete the map, if it has been changed recently, we are all still going off what it used to be. And helldash, tell what you said about leet to that dumbass lion. HA!

Regardless of what the rules used to be, you still have to follow current rules, or change them accordingly.

yeah, ive always camped or "waited" at bottom on leet, because if you dont, the map goes on for fucking forever, i think that we should change the rule for camping on main part of the motd, OR we could put the rule on for the "Map Rules" part of it, which would kinda be better in my oppinion. as for the spawn jumping, i dont like ANYONE to do it, because (as you said) non-regulars dont know to not shoot. it'd just cause more problems than it would solve. |

My policy on camping is as follows: 1) If you have a sniper rifle then you can sit in one spot for as long as you want. After all you are a sniper and it is extremely annoying to snipe someone with you moving while they are moving. 2) If you know they are coming and you want to wait for them, then wait. Why show you back to your enemy? 3) If you have a any other weapon other than a sniper and you decided to sit somewhere and shoot people then yes that is camping. EXAMPLES: i.e. I run around a corner and hear footsteps behind me. As soon as i get around the corner i crouch and plant my side against the wall. When they come around BOOM HEADSHOT! This can be seen in almost any Classic or surf map. ^ Above is NOT camping i.e. I just went through a portal (or down a ramp) and picked up an AK47. In an attempt to rack up some points and keep people form getting guns i sit down behind ( or anywhere close to the portal) and wait for them to come through. Surf_Final is a surf map that this can be seen on. ^Above IS CAMPING i.e. I have an AWP and surf up to a portal that takes me to the top of the map. I go to the side of the platform and snipe people below me. This can be seen on almost any surf map with an AWP spawn. ^Above is NOT camping *EDIT* And as for Spawn Jumping; I am against it because it really serves no other purpose than to kill someone in spawn, which is unfair. I think the best way to approach this matter is to just use common sence. When making the motd, nostie chose rules that would apply to every map. This means they are more like guidelines since no two surf maps are alike (we also have a seperate set of rules for each map). Obviously if you and an opposing player are the only two left and the round is dragging on, do what you can to get the job done as fairly as possible so others can play again. The rule for leet (I believe) is you have to complete going down the ramps once, then you may camp. Because if you continued to surf without camping (or waiting for your opponants) then the round would go on forever. I do not see spawn jumping as necessary in any situation... People get confused, shoot you down, you complain you weren't going to do anything, someone gets slayed in the confusion, North Korea invades China, Russia lobs off a nuke, we launch a return volley, and the whole world dies. Don't spawn jump until you complete the map and the other spawn has emptied (or an afk is left). Bottom line, just use common sense. If you wouldn't want someone else to do it to you, don't do it. |
