Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Alright, here it is, The all-inclusive PC-building guide: Any enthusiast PC-builder that has any tips, help, or questions is welcome to post. To start off the thread I will be building, this year, an AMD / Nvidia 1080 PC, and as all PCs I have built, I will be picking the case first. Lets get some Case recommendations going up in this biotch. Pick me out the best case in the world. If I don't like any of the cases I will be building my own out of bubinga burl and black anodized metal. About the Nvidia 1080: For those of you that are out of the loop and are perhaps considering purchasing a 980 on the cheap let me go ahead and slap that idea out of your fucking skull. The 1080gtx compared to the 980gtx is 2 times as powerful, and 3 times as energy efficient, and the pricepoint at release is around 80% of the 980gtx. These numbers are unprecedented, and the only one to predict them was Ray Kurzweil. We are at a Scientifically Fictional period in existence where graphical performance is actually DOUBLING at an almost annual rate. If you don't hop on this train at the front you're braindead (see Snowpiercer?). About the AMD: The one thing that I love about capitalism is that monopolies never win. Intel will not become a monopoly within my lifetime. As long as America is a capitalistic society, we will never be a dystopia. Fuck Socialism. For the record, Bernie wasn't Socialist. Support AMD. Pick me out the best motherboard in the world. Pick me out the best Soundcard in the world. I want SPDIF IN and optical OUT I'll be updating my next post with what I have picked out, along with everyone else's builds, questions, recommendations, and concerns to keep this thread concise. Anyone that wants to contribute their knowledge or learn about building PCs in 2016 can post in this thread. Edited Sun Jul 10 2016, 05:49AM |

Possible Cases: this this integrated watercooling -[link]- -[link]- Best brand of 1080 gtx: evga I'm holding off for another month, the 1080s are having a lot of driver issues and they are out of stock because of this -[link]- Best Mobo / CPU / Ram combos: I'm actually abandoning AMD because the 8-core bulldozer chip i bought 4 years ago is still their best chip -[link]- I'm buying this combo today. Although a steam friend that told me this is the best mobo ever made -[link]- Best Soundcards: I need SPDIF IN and Optical IN for studio recording. This is ideal -[link]- but -[link]- Best Harddrives: -[link]- Best Other: -[link]- Edited Thu Jul 21 2016, 04:30AM |

First off, let me just say I'm not dead. Now that's out of the way, must be a good time to build, cause I'm in the process of putting together a new PC for myself Case: It's no yacht PC, but it's silent and has good reviews -[link]- Board: Well call me communist, I'm going Intel Skylake for my build. Intel/Nvidia master race sorz. I'm a firm believer in MSI boards, and that's where I'm looking (built in killer NICs FTW). Asus being a second choice if I can be persuaded away. Storage: Haven't nailed this down yet, but I think I'm going M.2 PCIe for OS drive (maybe Samsung 950?) and whatever 6TB rotational is on sale for media Sound cards: Eh, don't need em. Just an extra complication to go wrong imo. On board sound is good enough nowadays for the most part and should not give you any chirps or crackling. The only reason to run a sound card is if you plan on running studio equipment off of your rig and you need the extra power to drive the equipment. Edited Tue Jul 12 2016, 12:50AM |

I've been using the ASRock Fata1ity boards. Used it for my old FX 8320 and now my i5 6600. Lots of nice customization options for tweaking and a GUI. Plus no DOA or BSODs. I couldn't care less about cases though. As long as they have good cable management and airflow I don't give a fuck what it looks like. Also, people still buy sound cards these days? |

recently used this case for a build -[link]- it was for a friend based on my raidmax recommendation from using the gundam tower and absolutely loving it. amazing airflow, great allocation of drives and fans, and the only downfall ive ever heard is the cheap plastic feel, which I never really ran into. Only thing that ever went bad was the power button and that was an easy fix with some thin rubber pieces I used to pry in between the buttons rest and pressed positions. As for motherboards, I've been AMD my whole life and im leaning towards i7 for my next build... price vs performance is still keeping me AMD though |

Also, Amish, that is not even close to the same thing lol. |

I ended up buying a raised 2000 doge ram 1500 with 50k miles at an auction the night before I was gonna submit the payment. It came out to about $1800 for my cart. It's a good thing I waited because the 1080's are getting more stock overclocked and outfitted with better coolers every week. I really wanted that brand new 6700k tho, it just came out last month. I'm going to research how to do those glass water-cooling pipes and resevoirs so I can get the clear thermaltake wall-mount case and make it look l337 -[link]- I wish there were some better games to play though oh yeah and my local fishtank store is going out of business cuz the owner is retiring and buy a 75 gal tank, grow light, cannister filter, almost convinced me to get the 225 gal lolllll. so i really had no money the last 2 weeks Edited Sat Oct 09 2021, 02:42AM by amishburrito |
