Yes, I think public officials should be held accountable when using services (in the instance you mention, a gov't supplied cell phone) paid for by taxpayers. In terms of FT: I am not a public official and you are anything but a taxpayer.Make sense? |

Zero was already taking tags off in a huff and Glitch considered leaving… At some point we have to wake up and realize what’s going on and take note of the problems and the seemingly obvious common factor. I don’t want to make it sound like I’m casting blame on Kever for the misconceptions of others, I just want to point out that her mere presence is enough to cause HUNDREDS of posts, and a dozen or so threads. My thesis from the “Fate of Kever” thread was that her simply ‘being here’ is problematic. I’m not saying that she breaks any rules or anything, I’m just saying that oil and water doesn’t mix. We have put that to the test many times so far, and if she’s unbanned, we will most certainly have another opportunity to put it to the test later on. History is a clear indication that feelings get hurt, people resign, and the problems continue in the same cycle. Many people want to believe that Kever is an integral part of the community. She has witnessed the posts that were being made and the false assumptions that were being tossed around, and yet she didn’t say a word. When Pracket and Bob were under the impression that she was banned for hacking, she could have easily made a post saying “I asked to be banned, gg everyone, catch ya later”. I know some people have said that she is intimidated by the forums, but if she requested to be perma-banned, and she didn’t want to be involved in the drama anymore, at least have the courtesy to toss a 1-liner on the way out the door. Even after the situation is made public, rendering the privacy of the matter useless, she still didn’t have the decency to pipe up and avoid a bunch of needless drama by clarifying the situation from her perspective. Instead, people are left to question the integrity of the system, look cockeyed at admins and flame endlessly. A similar thing happened a year ago, Kever remained quiet on forums while we were left to make accusations, speculate and slay/save her. Hundreds of posts have been made about her, she has been on forums regularly (and pretty continually for the past few days), if she no longer wants to be the cause/involved in drama, then she certainly could have made 1 damn post to quell the shit-storms. Instead, after the situation is made public and as accusations are being tossed about, dozens of people have to contact her via PMs and IM just to get the scoop. (In the Oxford-Goose dictionary, that is a prime definition of what it means to be an ‘attention-whore’.) At some point the community will have to look at this situation objectively, cast aside personal feelings regarding ‘hacking’, and look towards what is best for the long term stability and prosperity of everyone involved. Relationships don’t always work out and sometimes a divorce is necessary and beneficial for both parties. Given the major threads that went down in Winter 07 and now Winter 08, its clear that this trend will continue until or beyond Winter 09. Mark your calendars. Its great that people are typing e-hearts <3 and making up, but lets at least learn something this time. We can only fool ourselves for so long before we must accept reality. I’m just trying to be realistic. I’m not trying to re-hash the discussion. Just take a step back and think about it. A year ago Kever said that she would stop playing on FTC. This time she asked to be banned to avoid the drama. Clearly she realizes that her ‘being here’ has adverse affects on the members in the community, so why keep pulling her back in? If she really cared for the community and if she sincerely wants the drama to end, then she won’t ask to be un-banned. Sorry if the reality of the situation seems harsh, I’m not looking to be quoted or responded to, I just want to offer a different perspective and give us something to think about. |
