For sometime now, I (and several other FTC’ers) have been kicking around the idea of creating new clan specifically for FTC regulars; much in the same fashion of Surf’s F7L5 clan. I wanted to post this thread to see if there is any interest out there in helping to create, and be involved in, an Office clan. This is not a vote, but rather an area where we can exchange ideas on how we think the clan should be organized/ran etc. Below, I am going to list some thoughts/ideas/questions of my own. Please feel free to accept or reject any suggestion that I make, and know that I am looking for others’ input. I have numbered all of the items (1, 2, 3,…), that way if you only want to respond to one item, you won’t have to quote me, rather you can just type “#1 blah, blahâ€, “#7 agreeâ€, or whatever comments you may have. 1.) For starters, we need a clan name. Personally, I think we should pick something that keeps up with the “Fish Tank†motif, but what do you guys think? Remember, we are going to have to create a tag as well. Because I’m not as creative as most of you guys, I’ll leave this one to greater minds. 2.) Regardless of the requirements we set for acceptance into the clan, I think all current admins should be “grandfathered inâ€. This will give us a base of members from which we can grow. After all, if they are admins, then these individuals are already diehards who are dedicated and enjoy the server. 3.) There should be a required number of hours played on the server. I think total hours should be cumulative (lifetime) and we should make the benchmark a high number (after all this is a clan for diehard FTC’ers only!) Personally, I think a lifetime number of 300 hours would be appropriate. What do you guys think? Is 300 too high or low? Remember, this is a clan for FTC diehards and we need a way to weed out the posers! Of course any potential member would have to be voted in by current members. 4.) For a voting system, I think we should adopt the larger FT clan’s system. Perhaps we could tweak the system to our specific needs. Suggestions? 5.) There shall not be any ranking or hierarchy within the clan structure. We will not have clan leaders or any other ranking structure (lieutenants, corporals etc.) that will elevate any member over another. Everyone will have an equal say. Thoughts? 6.) When we have created our clan name/tag, the tag should be “worn†at the end of a player’s handle. This way, we can continue to “wear†our FT tag as well. So, for example, my handle would be [FT] Aborted Fetus [whatever]. 7.) I don’t think there should be any requirement to be in the FT clan (though most of us already are). That is, a player wishing to be a member of the FTC clan does not have to already be a member of the FT clan. So, in short, individuals should not have to be a member of the FT clan as a prerequisite to being in the FTC clan. Thoughts? 8.) Members of other clans (F7L5) should be allowed to be in the FTC clan. However, because most of us spend the majority of our time on one server, the minimum hour requirement will prevent most surfers from being in the FTC clan. While it sounds harsh, I think that is a good thing. I don’t want someone who spends 450 hours a year on Surf and only 35 hours a year on FTC to be able to get in the FTC clan. Even if it’s a surfer we all know well and love, we should strictly adhere to the minimum hour requirement. Don’t get me wrong, surfers are nice guys and gals, but this is a FTC clan designed for diehard regulars and I don’t want diehard surfers in the FTC clan. Besides, they already have their own clan – this one’s for us! I look forward to everyone’s comments and suggestions. Obviously, there are many things on which I did not touch. Remember, this is not a clan constitution; rather I’m just thinking generally about some ideas. Hopefully, we can work together and have a FTC clan of our very own so we can recognize and acknowledge diehard regulars. Edited Sun Feb 11 2007, 05:43AM |

Dude this sounds like a good idea I mean surf has there own clan just for surf so why don’t we have one for FTC. I don’t really have nay ideas for names but I do like the idea of FTC having a little clan just for FTC people

This sounds like a good idea, but won't it just end up being a stricter version of [FT] ? I guess the biggest benefit is it could seperate the real FTC heads from everyone else. #1 - im just throwing out ideas here, im not creative either  Fish Tank Soldiers Fish Tank Sharks (represents top of the food chain) #2 I agree - if the admins want to join. Just don't have them forced in. #4 The voting system is efficient as it is, I would leave it alone until a situation comes about were it may need to be modified. #5 Nobody should be higher than anyone else. If you can make it into this clan, which I assume will be difficult, then you should be equal with everyone else. #7 We have a lot of great regulars that are not in the FT clan, and if it was imposed that being in FT was a requirement, then they would have to go through the whole annoying process. As you said, being in FT shouldn't be a requirement. #8 What about people who are in [FT] and F7L5 but also have the required hours to join the FTC clan? Will they be accepted? |

I agree with some stuff but i think this is a great idea. 2 But i think that they need to be the active admins to be the one's who are in. I think that like people like Sunshine who hasn't been on since the reset of the stats shouldn't be able to be in until they get active again. Also, 3, i think that should be maybe be like 350 hours. Personally, i game a hell of alot. I am on atleast for 2 hours a day. I have been on FTC since around October, i already have 360 hours. But i also do game more than most. Im not a member of ne clan yet, but i think in regards to #7, there should be a requirement to be in FT. If u spend that much time in Office and u want to be in the new clan well why arent you in FT? I just think that FT should be the common ground. Most of the people in F7L5 are active in the forums and wat not, so the new ppl should be as well. I get along amazing with regulars the forums but not so much with nons regulars or i know nothing of them. When i say i dont get along with them i mean its harder to play with them. For instance I love playing with Bob, Wild, Jigg, Kevin when he plays, and night, and the list goes on. But everyone else its like ehh who cares. I think a clan should be in some regards like a family..Your not always going to get along, but you when u have ur moment there great.... | ||

lol funny this came up. I PM'd Wildcard about a new server Dust rotation or watever... And one of my ideas was to have a seperate clan for that server like Surf lol. I didnt make it public as to it was only an idea. But given the spirit of this thread, i will announce that if we decide to get another server, i planned on making a New clan. My idea was VERY similar to all of Fetuses points. The "sub" clan name would have been No Fear, lawls. Yes i know its my name now, but i like it and it looks good. or NF for short. lol like i said, just an idea. About an FTC clan based name. I think its also very cool. And a great idea. I like the variety. [FT] gLiTch |TD| .... TD would stand for Top Dogz. Since they are the leet dedicated players of FTC. Doesnt have to be Fish Tank in the name. I don’t think non FTC clan members should have a hand in the process of FTC clan membership. By forcing FTC clan hopefuls to first join the FT clan, we are allowing F7L5 members to decide the fate of an individual’s possible membership into the FTC clan. Put it this way, why should we allow a F7L5 member (an FT clan member) to vote on a FTC regular. How many times have we seen “no†votes from people that claim “I don’t know this person so I vote no?†Too many times! By not requiring FT membership, we can ensure that only people who know the clan hopeful will have a hand in his/her election process. Why allow surfers to participate in the process when it is possible that they may be ineligible to be in the FTC clan? |
