Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I think there's a miscommunication. I didn't mean that operators wouldn't have to approve things. My problem is that what you are suggesting sounds no different to me than making a post on the forums. How is a task force different then a forum post. I understand things are not getting done, and I understand that there is a need for a solution. I'm just having difficulty seeing why you think having users first form a task force, get the community opinion, then come for approval to you would in any way promote things getting done. I think if you implement this you will see the same group of 3-6 users participating, and very rarely on top of that. This is why what I suggested dealt with broadening avenues for more users to make it easier to get things done. This of course also can work both ways. Alex could make a thread asking if anybody wants to volunteer to work on a particular problem. I think we don't need a special new thing for it, other than streamlined communication between the website and servers. Once again: I know OP approval is a good idea. Im not suggesting we remove it. |

The point of a task force is we ask a few of you who aren't the current LA's to step up and come up with solutions to things we are asking for. Currently, nobody (except Nostie) seems to want to take any accountability or responsibility for getting shit done. Where are those threads you're talking about? Why has nobody posted a thread yet as to how to get members to the forums? Why did it take almost three different threads before someone made a Sourcemod command thread? These are the kinds of responsibilities we need someone to step up and take accountability for. The point of a task force is so all of this hindering responsibility doesn't fall on the 3 LA's (whom do not currently have time for this kind of tomfoolery.) Nice to have a backup, ya know? |

I totally agree with you. There are no threads being made now, and that is why I think this would not work. Where do you think these volunteers will come from? No one in this thread has yet come forward saying "I love this idea, I would participate", other than lead admins. That is why I urge you guys to instead focus on informing the community (and most importantly the community on the servers) to know then can affect changes. If people generally get the idea that they have no voice as to server policies they won't take the initiative to volunteer on such things. Here is what I totally agree with: You say it would be nice to have back up. I understand. It is a responsibility that is often difficult to handle when real life keeps you from these things. I think you would get a lot more help if you came to the community directly, and made threads asking people if they want to help out on a particular thing. (or allow users to come up with ideas that the OPs can later decide on). I think in the long run that would give you more people willing to help out. Think of the community as a giant task force. If someone tells you they will do something and don't do it, that is equivalent to a task force saying they will do it and not doing it. The accountability is virtually the same. That's why I suggest we keep it as simple as possible, and stick to that kind of model, with the only difference being streamlining communications (making people aware that they CAN take on these types of responsibilities, because I assume most people don't think they are allowed). |

Was I wrong in my assumption that basically it would be a discussion, then the LA would bring it to the OPs? I thought this would all take place ont he forums, as we have an openness about us, that everyone should be able to see how one of our servers might be changing! Some people here don't like things done in secret But the way I saw this working really was someone who cared about the server (obviously some dick who played once and requests noclip Tuesdays shouldn't have a say) brings up an ISSUE AND a SOLUTION, then discussion happens between LA's and members, who could be hand selected (maybe make a forum for it where everyone can see, but only few can post). After discussion and an agreement happens, the LA's could discuss with OPs, and either have the plan accepted or shot down. That was my take on it. It'll be hard to keep the OPs from posting in the thread though! |

Some people here don't like things done in secret That is what I think works best. But is that not what users are already allowed to do on this forum? There was a thread a week or so ago about the CS:GO server and proposed changes. |

I'm counting about... 8 or 9 threads that are pretty much saying "Hey, LAs, you're fucking up". I get it. Don't beat a dead horse. We are here, I am putting work into it with mi amigos, and if there is a task that I feel comfortable delegating to someone else, it will get delegated. |

But expect some defensive action when we are being subliminally attacked for about 7 days now amongst several threads. |

Is the point of this thread "not a bad idea" as you put it, or is it an attack on you and b4ndito? I don't think it can be both which means either you've changed your mind about this thread or b4ndito has incorrectly characterized this thread as an attack. Either way, thanks for helping to derail it. I thought I suggested a good idea and now you and b4ndito want to tear it down. Good work, LA team! Edited Wed Aug 29 2012, 12:21AM |
