Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

In another thread ( -[link]- ), NoSkill made an interesting observation: the clan is dying, and that as fewer people actually play the game, we are becoming a "forum-based clan". Now, it seems that NoSkill believes this is due to "homo-erotic bullshit". While I disagree with his stance that this is due to gay posts, I do agree with his assessment that the clan is beginning it's long goodbye. It does seem that fewer and fewer people actually play CS:S anymore (myself included - due to time constraints). I believe there are some reasons for that. First, the game is three years old, and is beginning to show it's age. CS:S has already peaked. Period. The steady decline has begun. The show's over, so to speak. In terms of the entire HL2/CS:S community worldwide, with the passing of each month, there will be fewer and fewer players and servers. To complain about it is a losing battle (sort of like the trying to prevent the Titanic from sinking by throwing buckets of water over the bow). Second, CS:S also now has to compete with the XBox360, PS3, and Wii. All three of which are shiny, new, and offer online games. Just wait until after the holidays this year. We will see a huge drop then as people get these new systems and games. Third, this time of the year always sees overall drops in play-time. Most players are of school age, and spend most of their time, energy, and efforts on school (rightfully so). Fourth, is that as some of our players get into their mid-teens, they play fewer video games. This is the time of their lives when they get a car, start dating, begin going to parties and experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Certainly we, as a clan, play less, and it is possible that we are becoming a "forum-based clan". While that does suck, I'm glad that we think enough of each other to still hop on the forums once a day, and see what each other is up to. Yes, the gay posts are growing, and that can certainly get annoying, but, lets be honest, if it wasn't for the hot, steamy, sexually graphic, gay posts, there really wouldn't be very many new posts/active threads. It seems that many people just like to post a one-liner, gross pic, or gay comment, and then move on. I'm okay with that. Besides, without that, forums would, in effect, be dead (insert tumble weed blowing along dirt road). Anyway, I thought that NoSkill's comments were very interesting and warranted a whole thread. I look forward to everyone's discussion and thoughts. **Wow, that is by far the longest post I've made in quite some time! I got through an entire post without making one single gay comment...almost....I love cock! Edited Sun Nov 04 2007, 12:28AM |

glad to see i am first on the topic. - to start, I used to play a whole shitload of cs:s over the summer and even b4 schoolwork never used to be a problem, and I played a whole lot. however this yr is my first yr in college, and living away from home. i left my mega pc at home that carries css and bought myself a laptop, in a way not allowing myself to get distracted, so now i only play the weekends i come home. Considering I have about the 3rd most hrs. on css, i figured I'd explain. and as a side note kill-time ( 2rd most hrs.) is also in a similar situation. At least for us 2, i can say that we are just adjusting to a life change, however i know once i get used to the set-up, we'll be back to whoring office once again. -perhaps cs:s is losing interest to people, but I.M.O. i don't think so. i just feel its a rough time of yr to trudge through. -also, the gay posts are kinda of getting out of hand. i mean threads do get completely taking over by gay posts. personally, i have my share of gay posts here and there, however i don't make it a huge habit. also, usually i have some sort of response to the topic of the thread in addition to the gay posts. BUT these posts are fun and ppl enjoy doing it, so in a way im not saying its a huge problem. its people having fun and i think thats also important to keep in mind. Edited Sun Nov 04 2007, 12:32AM |

you made great points. it all makes sense. steam realizes that to and that is why TF2 is out. The new look of Tf2 will most likely bring the younger crowd. dont get me wrong tf2 is still a groosem game, but im sure those parents would know. i was playing tf2 today and i noticed quite a bit of fishtankers have it. that being said, i would like you guys to get it to. lets try to make fishtank a team fortress 2 clan and make it big. thanks for your time. |

The clan will never become "forum" based, for multiple reasons. The first being that, while other members leave new and younger members come that play as much if not more. A second factor being that this clan is not a CS clan, it is a community clan. As certain games lose interest, our clan has a different ability to be able to adapt to newer more interesting games, for example TF2. Finally, while newer and shinier games ARE coming out, they are not as flexible as CS. Using TF2 as an example again, it looks great, and is fun. You jump around and shoot guys, with a slight similarity to all the other FPS games out there, but hey it's still cool. In CS, you can chase or be chased around by zombies, surf around on ramps (probably one of the more original things of CS, and may be for a long time), and even dig around through the ground to get to your enemies. You guys may think the clan is dying, I think the clan is simply evolving. |

Well I have to agree with what the Fetus man said. I remember when I first started playing on FTC I would get on pretty much every night and the tank would be full of FTers to the point where we could have FT vs all or it was unbalanced with a greater number of the players on being FTers. Now though I come on, rarely because of first year of college, and there are very few FTers on and quite often not a ton of people on period. I remember when I used to try to get on at like 1 or 2 in the morning and there was a wait for like 5 minutes but now it seems that nobody is on really at those times. As time goes and this game gets older and older less and less people will play CS:S and I think that though it is good that we all care enough to hop on the forums at least once a week to see what everybody is up to I think that it is time for FT to start branching out into new games such as TF2, which I definitely need to get. I think if we get started now we can make this clan even bigger and better in TF2 than it has been in CS:S. If you took the time to read this post then thanks a lot and if not oh well it is just my opinion on this matter. Hope to be back in the tank soon. Jesus |

Good observation nonetheless. I myself am buying an X 360, so my interest in games on my PC might drop as well. You can't expect something like this to last forever. We are at a peak though. There are many new members that are interested in joining. I still see us as going somewhere in the long run, but as Fetus has said, CSS is a dieing game. Thank God for TF2 and the fact that we have a server now. Different games could simply resurrect interest in the clan, so maybe we should not be completely CSS based. I do not want to put Alex's hard work behind us to make the server what it is. I still enjoy playing in FTC, and always will. As far as I'm concerned, I've been playing Counter Strike in total for 5 years now. I'm still not tired if it, and I still love it. As long as people can gather up on FTC and have fun, I'm all for staying in there. The clan won't go down as long as we make it that way. |

I agree with a lot of what was said in the thread from everyone. The old days are the old days. Those were the days when Fetus, AP, Jesus, and a ton of others would always be on the server. And you would have to wait at 1 am to get in the server. Those are the old days and we all need to stop wishing for today to be like the old days. We need to adapt and look forward. Let's stop looking behind us. I think part of the problem with CSS is that it is becoming outdated. We all want new and better toys. Vista has come out and a lot of people have upgraded to Vista from XP. Mainly because it has crisper, more high def graphics fully utilizing DirectX 10 which is something that XP is not doing. Hell, look at Crysis coming out right now on PC. The Vista version of the game is like playing a high def game and the XP model is not even close in comparison with texture models, etc. Many people are going to keep moving up to Vista to play the newer games in better detail which is what Microsoft wants so they can get rid of XP. I looked at upgrading to Vista but didn't since CSS doesn't work on Vista according to Steam and I still want to play CSS. PC is also in competition with the consoles as was already mentioned. The capability of the 360 and PS3 along with the wii being as fun as it is to play are creating major competition with the PC. Also, a lot of people play on laptops which can't be easily upgraded to play the newer PC games. Desktops can but cost extra money. Consoles are a one time cost to buy them and that's it. They are good until the next console comes around since they figure out new ways to keep finding new ways to utilize the console to make the games better. I do think that the "new guard" Vega speaks of is coming into power. My suggestion is to keep with what is being talked about already in this thread. FT is a community clan. We should have multiple divisions. People that play CSS and people that play other games such as TF2 or COD4. FT should have a representation in the up and coming games as much as we should keep a large representation to our roots in CSS. I think CSS will still maintain a presence in the gaming community because of it's various game types such as surf, zombie, etc. My only question that remains is will Steam catch on and make a version that is compatible with Vista and uses high def graphics. Only time will tell but for now let's keep our heads up. I'm interested to see what others have to say. Especially those of you that read all of this. |
