Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

aborted fetus wrote ... Also, from my days rocking the $2000 system in the $800 1995 Escort, I have some advice...toggle switches. Hehehe, yeah, sounds like what I'm trying to do. I like the Idea with the toggle switches, How much did that cost to do? What I was thinking of doing is since I ski a ton in the winter, and paintballin the summer, my trunk gets a lot of use, So I might only get one sub w/ box and put it in the back right of my trunk. Since it's only going to be one, spend the money I save from buying 2 to make the system that much better. And yes I did sign up for the Crutchfield catalogue |

Here is a link to Radio Shack so you can see different styles. -[link]- Most run around a few dollars. It's really easy to do. Just mount the switch where ever you want and run the wires to it. You will have three wires associated with the switch. 1) a ground wire connected to something metal in your car like the floor pan. 2) a power supply (from your car's battery) 3) one to the amp to give it's power. On the switch, these ports are usually labeled "earth" "load" "supply" It's really simple and, in my opinion, a great idea. Though I am not an expert, let me know if you have any other questions, and I'll do my best to help. |

I'm looking at crutchfield now and I've pretty much narrowed it down to 3 subs: Rockford Fosgate Punch Stage 2 Alpine type R and Alpine Type S Now what I'm wondering is, what is a voice coil and is it important to the sound quality? The type R has 2 of them while the others lack one completely. Help? PS I decided on a Profile AP1000M for an amp. [update] I'm going with the type R, I found out what the voice coils do, so forget that question. And the Profile AP1000M just isn't powerful enough for that sub. Now I have to find an amp that is powerful enough. The type R can go from 300 - 500 watts with a peak of 1500 watts and the voice coils can carry 250 watts each with a peak of 750 watts. Now would I be better off finding an amp with say an output of 310 watts on one channel, or 170 watts on 2 channels (can be bridged to make 500 watts over 1 channel @ 4 ohms). Now which would be the better choice and why? PS now my amp decisions are: Alpine MRP-M650 Profile AP2000 Kenwood KAC-9102D and Kenwood KAC-7252 Edited Wed Jun 28 2006, 10:55PM |
