| What do you think of the "owned" sound when someone gets knifed? | ||

The owned sound, is a common thing on quite a few servers. "Humiliation" is also a common one. These sounds add particular elements to the knifing game. First of all, it makes the person getting knifed more noticable, therefore its funnier to watch someone get knifed! There is one downside.. which you may have noticed. The surrounding opponents, 95% of the time, also notice the noise, making it significantly harder to get multiple knife kills. I am not saying it cannot be accomplished, but it makes it more challenging. If there is no sound, it adds another aspect to the game, becouse you will have to more closely pay attention to the top right of your monitor, where it shows x kills y x and y being opponents obviously As an example, I was playing on the LANFusion server last month (They have no sound effects when someone gets knifed) and in 1 round, ran through garage and took out 7 AWPers in 35 seconds with my trusty knife. Now im sure the outcome would be different in a no-AWP server such as Fish Tank. What are your thoughts? Edited Sun May 28 2006, 01:55AM |

I personally hate the "Owned" sound. Simply because it's obnoxious. It's not "Owning" when you knife somebody with no sound, let's just say that. Now, if you no-scope me with scout or something, by all means yell it loud and proud, you owned me. Otherwise, shut up. *Sorry, that drifted off-topic. I agree with you Wu, the "Owned" sound takes away from the overall stealth of knifing considering it alerts people. I wouldn't mind seeing it abolished. Edited Sun May 28 2006, 02:12AM |

Meh, either way. I don't have a preference but if it ain't broke... Plus it is jokes to see a NOOB get owned, with the sound effects and all, or a 1 vs 1 knife at the end of the round... it just lets you know that you got the kill and you don't have to keep swingin your blade. | ||

... ok now consider it... getting killed with a >knife< when you have a >gun< ... how is that not ownage? You have attack speed, fire rate, and reach on your side... the only thing the other person has is a flashbang and the element of surprise. Which means that... if you get knifed, the enemy exploited your lack of awareness of your surroundings, be it not listening to what's behind you, or not paying attention to where who dies on the map. Either way, knifing = pwng... don't see how you can make a case otherwise. |

i like the owned sound....and its never stopped me from getting multiple knives in a round...i think you just made this thread to argue about something. | ||

I like the sound. It's salt on an open wound. P.S If you don't have sound then get it. But, don't use it as an excuse...for anything. Knives take skill. |
