I'm not saying at all that noone should take offense to anything that's ever said, or that opinions shouldn't be free to be expressed, freedom of speech, right? Democracy, right? All I'm saying, and I guess I could have said it in the first place, is that just as everyone is "free" to express their opinions, no matter what they should happen to be, in this thread, shouldn't Bleek be "free" to make into a joke or make light of anything he feels like expressing in that way? Not trying to start any trouble either, just sit and listen to people bitchin all day that have never been affected by slavery or the holocaust or any of those events that happened before most of us were born. Gays and Lesbians can march down the street in gay pride parades dressed and acting flamboyant as can be, free to express themselves, and it's acceptable. The guy that has to watch it pass him on the street and explain to his kid what's going on is labeled as hateful or as a gay-basher when his expresses his disapproval. A little off the subject, I know, but I just wanted to paint a picture of what I felt when I read this thread earlier. The worst part about all of this is that he's not even truly racist or anti-sematic, he was making a joke and catching all kinds of flak about it. I'm done rambling. Like I said, not trying to start trouble, just "expressing" MY opinion. |

Uhh.. Free Speech as long as it does not infringe on other peoples' freedoms. Therefore if I am gay and you bash gay people, you are infringing my freedom therefore you cannot make that remark. If I am black, you cannot bash on black people if it is offensive to me. Banning a player for being a noob and noobs = jews is hate...And this happens all too often. |

Freedom of Speech or Expression is limited to several factors, including protecting national security, public order, public health, public values, and for respect of the rights or reputation of others. AIDs is a different matter, and can be solved easily... STOP FUCKING. If they listen to that then there wont be as much poverty...The population size will be a lot smaller, but a lot easier to maintain and to rebuild HEALTHIER |

Every single person has said something derogatory to or about someone else at some point which is "bashing". I'm sorry, but Freedom of Speech isn't limited like this in any way shape or form. If it was, then why are hate groups still allowed to organize and march down a public street yelling white power, etc. Look at how many protests for and against everything from abortion to the war occur daily. Infringment of rights occurs when you actually DO something, ie. kill someone, prevent someone from shopping or going to school somewhere, etc, based on your oppostion to what they believe. What you say, unless you're the Pres or someone who has the ability to write a law that effects whatever it is you're bashing, is protected under the Freedom of Speech clause in the First Ammendment. |
