Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

I would like to share with you some photos of probably my favorite band at the moment, which is Pearl Jam. I know that you have seem me occasionally post in the chat box of my extreme love of the band, but for those of you that don't know who they are, I'll be more then happy to give you a Biography of who they are. Formed in Seattle, Washington, Pearl Jam is one of the biggest bands of the 1990s. Not only did they have some kick ass music, they were one of the 4 biggest grunge bands in the movement. Not even in my opinion alone do they stand as one of the greatest rock bands of all times, but in a poll in USA Today they stood number one. And it's not hard to believe. Eddie Vedder is the lead singer of Pearl Jam and he's done an amazing job at it. There are other bands that have followed his style of vocals (Creed, Alice in Chains, Godsmack, ect.) but they sound nothing as good as he does. With songs that were huge hits at the time such as Jeremy, Black, Alive, and Evenflow, Pearl Jam was an instant success. As of December 2006, they had sold 31 million records alone. This band will be remembered for a long time as a legacy of their own. They have certainly proved themselves and are pretty much the last grunge band left that makes music and does shows. Alice in Chains is still around but although they are great as well, they do not compare to Pearl Jam Long live Pearl Jam I had to LOL at the first one because of the top of the magazine Edited Tue Mar 13 2007, 03:09AM |

You know, I have never been impressed with Pearl Jam (as I listen to "Daughter" right now on the radio). Certainly Nirvana was the most popular and influential bands out of Seattle. Alice and Chains was also a better Seattle band than PJ, imho. Edited Tue Mar 13 2007, 06:43AM | ||

Yeah, I love Pearl Jam too. Evenflow, Alive and Jeremy are still in regular rotation. Speaking of which, Nirvana has always been a personal fav. My alltime favourite genre of music is the 90's Alternative Rock scene, which pretty well included grunge. (Followed by a tie between Retro 80's music, I shit you not and 1995-2001 hip hop.) I got into the hip-hop scene pretty heavily throughout the late 90's and up until maybe a year ago... but I'm currently dusting off the old Rock CD's from a few years back. Quite frankly, I'm glad that Hip-Hop is emploding onto itself and making way for the upcoming Alt Rock revival. The buzz around the music industry is that the next 'big trend' in music will be the Alt Rock bands that were big in the 90's. The Smashing Pumpkins are getting back together, YAY! Audioslave broke apart but Rage Against the Machine is getting back together,,, I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Cornell got back with Soundgarden. Heck, with Gwen Stefani's recent publicity, I wouldn't be totally shocked if her husband, Gavin Rossdale got back with Bush, but that's unlikely. I would also love to see Collective Soul and The Offspring make a return, but who knows what the future will bring when serious amounts of coin is involved. The Stone Temple Pilots and GNR were the shit, so I liked Velvet Revolver from day 1. What's the word on Axl Rose's 'Chinese Democracy' venture? Will it ever come out so nobody can buy it? Some bands of that era were able to make it out of the 90's and see current day success, like Oasis (still big in UK), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Weezer, Foo Fighters and many of these bands have enjoyed mainstream success while maintaining a loyal fan base throughout the years. As for PJ being ranked the #1 rock band of all time by a USA Today poll... Uhh, I'd put the Beatles, Rolling Stones and U2 as sure fire candidates for that spot. I think that PJ is overshadowed by Nirvana within the same genre, so its hard to say 'who was polled'. But yeah, I'm looking forward to the musical resurgence in the upcoming months. |

goose, i've been waiting for that resurgence for years. don't expect it in months! i was very much into the grunge scene and PJ was definitely a big part of it. i liked everything through Yield, but they lost me after that. still put on a kickass show though, you can always bet on at least 3 hours with some killer guitar solos from my man, mike. i've been to around 5-6 shows and i'm never disappointed. PJ and Nirvana's unplugged shows are the two by which i measure all other unplugged's. simply amazing. |

BuBBLe GooSe wrote ... My alltime favourite genre of music is the 90's Alternative Rock scene I agree, Goose. That is my all time favorite genre as well. I guess it has a lot to do with our being relatively the same age. Within that genre, I liked: Chili Peppers Semisonic (gay, yes, but a personal fav.) Alice in Chains Smashing Pumpkins Live Alien Broadcast (underground as hell, if you know them, I'll suck you off) Foo Fighters (their earlier work) Marilyn Manson Tool Cannibal Corpse (hardcore, but same era) Sneaker Pimps (again, a bj to those who know) Pantera No matter what, Under the Bridge, by the Chilli Peppers, will always remain one of my personal favorites. In '91, when that song came out, I had a huge crush on a girl named Brandi. To this day, when I hear that song, I am instantly transformed to a nine year old with a school yard crush. '90s alternative FTW! I find it hard to believe that some in this community were born in 1990! Edited Tue Mar 13 2007, 07:02AM |

I love grunge. As you may know I'm all about Rock (classic, modern, pretty much anyone who has a guitar and knows how to use it). It also helps that every day when I get out of work, the "Grunge Plunge" is just beginning on fm 107.3 . However, I never really got into Pearl Jam. Don't get me wrong, they have some good songs, but like Goose said, I prefer bands like Nirvana or Alice In Chains over them (Here Comes the Rooster is one of the best songs of all time!) P.S Fetus, I have heard of the Sneaker Pimps. They're ok. |

Yes! I kinda missed out on the 90's music, having been born in '88 and didn't really get into music for a while. So lately I've been going back to the music of my childhood, the 90's, which I love wholeheartedly. Last month I downloaded Marilyn Manson, and this month I finally got around to checking out Pearl Jam, and I love them. I'm also not so sure about the best rock band ever, but they certainly are among the best. |

I've heard of the Sneaker Pimps too. They were on radios here for a while a couple of months back. I do like Alice in Chains and yes Rooster is a good song. But I still like Pearl Jam over them. Some people do not like Pearl Jam because of the way the lead singer sings but I think it sounds great. I will make an Alice in Chains tribute soon once I get some time because they are great in my book also. Not to mention some others like Metallica. Nirvana is good too, but I really only like 6 or 7 of their songs. I just wish Kurt didn't kill himself and their band was still left making good music. Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, ect. were really the bands that made music not shitty. And as for rap the period that Goose was explaining was my favorite for hip hop. After that I hated it and everything else went shitty and downhill. Some great rappers of that time would be Jay Z, his one song Dead Presidents is one of the best rap songs imo. Not to mention there was Master P and many others that made me a hip hop fanatic back in that time. Now it's plagued by shitty rappers such as Nelly whose music is absolutely stupid as well as 50 cent and shit like that. I'll take the old 2pac days and Jay Z days over the shit that they have out now. I can't even listen to it and people wonder why I don't like it. It's just not good music anymore. I'm sure that Wu if he was here would disagree with me but really it sounds all the same anymore and the lyrics aren't great anymore. |
