The abundance of "gay" posts is a good example, but wouldn't it make much more sense to broaden the scope and agree that it would be beneficial if people were a bit more discreet about what appears in the body of forum posts. If you want to link to something that's fine, and putting a brief warning about indiscreet content would be much appreciated as well. Armorer Fuckbucket brings up a good point -- most of you would be screaming for blood if N-bombs were dropped in post subjects. I say this to ward off the argument that "discretion" is completely up to the individual, so no one can define it or enforce it. Just as most of you understand that, regardless of the context, the word "nigger" can typically create some upset CS:S players and forum participants (I'm sure a few of you are upset by just seeing it)... so can nude pictures of dudes. Let's try to combine Pocky's suggestion with mine -- tone it down and if you really want to post potentially upsetting/disgusting/disturbing pics, then please link them instead of displaying the pictures in your post. |

ok i dont mind the gay posts in chatboxes and threads. As we all have... we all watched porn, yes even the ladies dont deny it. My prude g/f admitted she has watched porn numerous times. Fetus I support your anti Homophob elimination idea. I don't like discrimination of any kind to any group of people. Though I think that ridding people of homophobia would be a difficult if not imposable task it steams form a deep fear that they may be gay and like all phobia it is a irrational fear that can only be undone with a lot of willing full work by the afraid person. | ||

I agree with fetus, being that it should be all or none... I think the main reason people are pissed off about the gay porn is that it's completely unnecessary... Offensive terms, in my opinion, shouldn't be offensive... but since they ARE... i agree that anything can be said, but it must be in you OWN thread. Anyone else favor this idea? |

I agree with nostie that Fetus was dead on with what he wrote. All or none. Saying fag or retard in a post could definitely be taken as offensive in nature to some people. I remember hearing stories from friends about people saying fag or retard to someone not realizing that maybe someone that person knows has a mentally challenged kid or sibling or has someone in their family who is gay. It wasn't meant to be offensive but that person didn't think and offended someone unintentionally. Does it matter? It should and I think it does to all of you as you seem to be on the right track with what you are writing in your responses. We all play together online and come to this site to throw up jokes, talk about the bible, talk about cheaters on the servers, and new members for your clan. In some ways this is an online family and I would hope we can all joke around like you would with your family but never push it to a point that you might hurt someone in your family's feelings. If you do, stand up, apologize, and learn from it so it doesn't happen again. I'm behind fetus that anything offensive should be deleted and that discretion should be left up to the site admins. I would hope posting something saying I <3 glitch or something like that as a joke wouldn't be deleted but I would understand deleting a post that says fag or the n* word. Plus, glitch made a valid point that we've all seen porn so we've seen all the anatomy and this isn't 5th grade health where everyone is so immature that they can't handle seeing it or talking about it. However, it can still be offensive to some and we all need to respect that. The fact that glitch's mom walked in to his room and may have seen a huge black cock on his screen is initially sort of funny that she walked in at that exact moment but not funny that she actually may have seen that. Would anyone want to have that conversation with your Mom explaining that some people on the website put up a ton of pictures of penis' everywhere on the site and you were just reading the content? I seriously doubt anyone would want to have that conversation. I'm with everyone that we should just be able to sign on and look through the forum without worrying if a penis or racial / sexually motivated derogatory term is going to be in there. maybe there should be a censored button so when u click it, u can see the gay porn, etc. in the post, and if u dont want to, just move on. then, the people who want to look at that stuff can/can handle looking at it will get their share of still having that stuff, and people who are offended dont have to! Ok, I would just like to wrap up some of the things we have discussed in this thread so far... 1) The penises got out of hand; the frequency was growing larger, and they were being erected in too many threads. Even though Pocky was gentlemanly enough not to name names in his initial post, we all know who the demented pro-penis posters are (myself, and my lovers: Goose and Wu). I completely agree that it needs to be seriously toned down. 2) When people, in the community, feel the need to have a man-meat-athon, we should do either one of two things… First, we could create a separate thread with a title that eludes to the obscene content (i.e. *Danger, Danger, Watch for Falling R(C)ock* ). With a title like that, people who do not want to be subjected to that material can steer clear and not even bother opening the thread. When/if these types of threads are created (in moderation of course), you can post the pictures. Secondly, when posting in a “non-dangerous†thread, if the need is felt to “bring the sexy backâ€, it should only be done with a link (not a posted picture) that comes with a warning. For example, someone could write, “Wow, this thread is almost a painful to read as this must have been for the gentleman in this situation (*Warning [link]).†This way, people can continue to make a joke, but unsuspecting readers don’t open a thread titled “Need Help With Steam†and find a different type of steam shooting from another man’s penis. 3) Though, like Pocky eluded, we cannot change the hearts and minds of people, we can take a stand against what they write. Derogatory and demeaning statements of any kind should not be tolerated. Whether it is racial, religious, sexist or homophobic (etc.) language, we should all, as a community, attempt to deter such behavior. Now, I’m not (nor is anyone) suggesting that we strap on some Birkenstocks, sit around the drum circle and sing Kumbaya like a bunch of dirty, Earth loving hippies, but, a little consideration and forethought will go along way. I’m not suggesting that we get rid of our sense of humor about everything. Making fun of stereotypes is one thing; making fun of people is completely different. For example, yesterday I posted this in the chatbox -[link]- A racist GPS for your car is fucking funny as hell! I think it would have been even funnier if the GPS said something like "Warning, you are entering San Francisco! Do a u-turn or gays will try to recruit your children!" Now, after watching the GPS video check this out -[link]- and you'll see what I mean when I say there is a difference between targeting stereotypes and targeting people. So, in short, tone down the meat, give warnings or links (instead of pics), and lets all try to be a little more considerate. Does that sound like a plan? Did I miss anything? What could we discuss further? Of course, these are not official clan/forum rules of any kind, rather we should look at them as guidelines of self-governing. P.S - Hats off to Pocky, who started this thread in the manner that he did. He could have gone in a completely different direction that surely would have included an angry rant.
