Noskill is my boy and all, but I think he puts too much importance on reputation. Reputation is only what OTHERS think you are, not what you are. IMHO reputation is merely a tool. It can be crafted to be what you want it to be if you work at it. You use the reputation you have to your advantage, regardless of what it is. One reputation may be more beneficial to someone than another rep because of that person's mental, physical, or social skills. Any reputation can be used in a positive way. I'll point to Victor Conte as an example. It sounds to me like you want to be a man of integrity. Your integrity is what you are, regardless of what people and your reputation say you are. I would like to go into more detail but i'm tired as hell and i need to get some sleep soon. I hope this helps and i hope my points are understandable. |

He's right, reputation isn't everything. It's who you are as a person that's most important. However, your reputation will be molded from this base. If you're a good, honest, level headed person a reputation as such will follow. If you're a violent, antagonizing person a reputation as such will also develop. Of course you can always change your reputation, violent criminals and two faced politicians making charitable contributions is a common example. I guess before you even take any of our advice or input, you have to tell us what your goals are and what's important to you. There's going to be several ways to achieve your goals, but based on what's important to you (reputation, integrity, non-violence, etc) there will be only a couple of ways best suited for you. So what are you goals? And what's important to you? |

Don't let him get to you. Honestly, maybe because of the fact that he is a Freshman, he is trying to fit in or be cool or be like everyone else to feel more comfortable. Its pretty common. Don't let one person fuck up the rest of your life. Its not worth it. Just brush it off and put it behind you, i do it everyday. |

Reasons for not beating the absolute snot out of him: 1) I want to be the better(much bigger - physically also) person. 2) I'm on the tennis team, and we have 4 matches left and I dont want to be suspended for most of them. 3) I want to get into the National Honor Society next year for my senior year, and they would look down upon this. 4) I could get suspended/expelled. 5) Legal issues in case I break his nose or arm like I intend to do. 6) I'm VERY close with his entire family, even if they are all cocky assholes. So, I know I shouldn't fuck this kid up, but he needs to learn a lesson, and shut his mouth, and leave my fucking girlfriend alone. Oh! also, he keeps hitting on my woman and saying fucked up shit to her, like "wanna do it?" or "wow looks like someone really Caked on the make-up today fatty!". good side note. But seriously, faced with all those challenges, should I just knock him out one day, and let myself go in public, or should I call him out of the environment so if I do mess him up, I wont have to deal with the repercussions. ALSO!: if you were in a situation where you knew you shouldn't get into it, would you still go through with it just to keep your honor, and pride? Well there is one solution to all those problems aside form being the bigger person physicaly. Wait till you are out of school somewhere else and he is picking a fight with you and pick a fight back without hitting. Then when he hits you beat the ever living shit out of him after he throws the first punch it is self defense. |
