Your question is "What makes something racist in today's comedy jokes?" First of all, let us define racism: "Discrimination or prejudice based on race." This is talking about race only (Black, White, Brown, Yellow, etc) If you want to include religions, then you must ask a different question. It will only become racist if you are bashing the race. If you say something comparing an indian man with fecala matter, then it is racist. It is implying that the Indian man looks like a pile of feces. If you make a joke with their accent, it is tolerable. If you say "Go eat some curry you smelly elephant worshipper" It gets to the point where it is not a joke anymore, but rather hate speech. I am too tired right now to select my words carefully, so I will leave it at that for now, and let you ask a more specific question. The question that you have stated in your first thread is too broad, please expand on it. |

Sure, it's not too difficult to comprehend. You can be ignorant (unknowledgeable) and still seek the knowledge neccesary to make yourself no longer ignorant but until you have found, assimilated and applied the knowledge to help change the ACTIONS you take in life... you will remain ignorant. The quest for knowledge may seem a noble pursuit in itself... but is ultimately masturbatory and base and selflish. Now if the goal is to obtain knowledge to help one make better decisions and take better actions... then and only then is it noble. |

bleh, lol, i was tired, when i said please expand on it i meant please make it a more detailed question, focusing on a smaller topic... Many smaller topics is probably easier than one large one. expand on the question, not on the material it will cover. And to alcohol: He asked how he was ignorant, its because he lacks knowledge. that is an ignorant person. he does however seek knowledge which is a good first step, but nobody actually has a real answer, only opinions. The question I asked, pertains to racist jokes as you stated. Not religious jokes. I hope that narrows it down. I really hate repeating myself, but I think people are still confused. This is NOT about the "April fools day" thread. That was a anti-semitic, not racist thing, and it seems to be confusing some of the posters. I understand what your saying Jesus. My english isn't good, forgive me for my wrong understanding of the word "ignorant" i based it on the word "ignore" as in not wanting to learn more, and ignoring facts and opinions of others. So please, using my definition above re-read my original post. |
