Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

You can only begin to de-robotize yourself to the extent that you know how totally you're automated. The more you understand your robothood, the more free you are from it. I sometimes ask people, "What percentage of your behavior is robot?" The average hip, sophisticated person will say, "Oh, 50%." Total robots in the group will immediately say, "None of my behavior is robotized." My own answer is that I'm 99.999999% robot. But is just so happens that the .000001 percent non-robot is my source of self-actualization, the inner soul-gyroscope of my self-control and responsibility. discuss |

hah. he's trying to say that we all do the exact same things every day, every moment even... and that the only part of us that actually makes it any different is our brain, and the different ways we think... but even then it's still surpisingly the same as many other of our robot brothers and sisters. when i think of what he said, i think of how it's impossible that I can think of something not already thought of by someone else... that's just me going on a tangent though. |

Pfft... Robert Cialdini in the book Influence: The Psychology of Persuassion already beat this topic to death. As society got more complicated and automated people had to naturally develop automatic responses to common stimuli. It was neccesary to their survival. (you can't spend an hour and a half analyzing the complexity of the decision of which wash cycle to put your laundry on... or what clothes to wear or how to properly handle an encounter with a hobo) It's the *click* whiirrrrr syndrome. Check it out, excellent read and I gaurantee you it will make you a better person. |

It's not that we're robots that just follow a daily routine for no reason. It's just the developmental routine that these 400 years of our "renaissance" as I would like to call it, is what we have grown accustomed to. We by no means are following this routine because someone else told us to. It's just what we grew up knowing. Sleeping in the dark is necessary, considering it's darker and harder to see things, therefore we've developed a sense to sleep during that period. We've evolved into this sort of person and by no means is it a paradox. We do not contradict ourselves in this slum of a routine but adapt it as a way of life. For instance, look at my sleep pattern. It's not repetitive, I fall asleep at 3 A.M one morning, and the next day it could be 10 p.m. My work schedule is randomized, and the only routine thing for me is school. Some people have a routine, others like me have no real routine. Nothing contradicting myself there |

well night you kind of contracticted yourself by saying that no one told us to follow a certain routine, but you then said "It's just what we grew up knowing."... We grew up knowing it because the people around us told us it... Good thoughts all. Edited Wed Mar 28 2007, 12:43AM |
