We are hear to find the answer. Which kevin beat me to. 42, if you recall hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy. Now we need the question. I have heard that the question can be found in the movie "pi." The answer is a number of symbolism, and from what I recall it has to do with the marriage of a man and woman to create offspring. This is in line with the hebrew bible's teaching that man was created to populate and subdue the animals of earth. Now that we have nearly accomplished this, we are obviously coming towards the end of a cycle. The ancient mayan calender has said that the end of this cycle will be in 2012. It is a distinct possibilty that other civilizations of like or unalike species have met and passed this objectve of 42. Which begs the query what was the first question and what is the next answer/question. I believe it lies in our ability to be architects of our environment. After all that is part of how we have adapted in nature so far. By building houses, and turning the land into farms/factories. Yet we need to take it a step further. We need to start dabbling in the control and manipulation of the fabric of matter, and the building blocks of life. The hebrew bible tells us what to do up to the completion of 42. Now the world is getting full, and we are pushing the limits of our resources (living space, food, water). And now we must either wait for the advent, or procede to take initiative and start looking for the next answer. We must be masters of both inner and outer space. Why we are here is still 42, but soon it must and will change. Soon we will know what to add to 42, my guess is 13.  When the cycle is over, we will all be NOOBs.
