Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

Thinking and thinking.... What determines a civilizations eternal survival? Id suppose that if all humans in the galaxy lived on Earth (pretty sure thats the case), we would be at high risk of our entire species dying. Asteroids, virus's, nukes, and terrorists are some god damn good reasons why we are never safe as a world. The only way I see for us to survive as a species through a civilization disaster would be to inhabit other worlds. Even if we had a base on Mars, with the ability to sustain itself, and build, our species would be safe from complete destruction (unless our sun blew up, until we inhabit other solar systems). Right now I figure, we have solar cells that can pick up light and turn it into energy. We can get to mars (the rovers that went). We can build space stations. We could inhabit mars now, but it would cost more than Egypt spent on the great pyramid (at the time). Im saying its going to take 100 years for humans to inhabit the moon, or mars, and 500 years for other planets to be self sustaining. This was just going through my head... Im thinking about making a philosophy forum for just this type of thing. |

Logistical, political, technological, financial nightmare. WHhile I whole heartedly agree with the need for expansion to ensure our future prosperity. Many people value the individual human life higher or equal to that of the total population. Especially when that individual is a highly regarded, trained, intelligent astronaut and the populace as a whole consists of mostly... well... you know the types. Missions like this would very likely fail at first. Probably often in unpredictable and surprising ways. Many people would die and billions of dollars would be shot off into space.... THe argument I see being posed. Is that why don't we spend our efforts fixing the problems here on earth before we go galavanting through the galaxy. My hypothesis being you can't fix the problems on earth with earthly resources alone... A catch 22 of astronomical proportions. My solution. Prisoner astronauts in makeshift rockets. Similar to how the British colonized Australia... we'll send prisoners to Mars and let them figure it out. If they die? Hey who cares right? |

Humans are a virus (please, spare me the matrix crap, this is my own deduction). We procreate, change our enviroment to suit or basic needs, use up the resources, then move on to spread to other enviroments. We have spread to the point where we have infested an entire planet, and now we are running out of resourses. So what's our solution? we spread to another planet and use it's resources until we have to move on again. We're comparable to "the flood" from Halo. Within a billion years, we'll be all over the universe, and if other inteligent life forms exist, surely they will hate us for our living patterns.

The end of the world will come in 6 years, 2 months and 5 days..no it won't, that theory is complete bullshit, do listen to anyone who tells you. Human civilization will, at some point in the future, find an Earth-like planet and leave Earth because of some kind of war, famine, or strife. The planet should be able to support life with some modifications(e.g. terraforming- the process of modifying a planet,or other body to a more habitable enviroment) Once the terraforming is complete humans will inhabit said planet and, eventually, blow it to fucking hell. Dammit Lep what did I say?! 10/21/12 is a date of the year, no more no less. And if you believe that stuff about the end of the world, you better know where it came from first. If we have some Philisophical forum then I'll post about it in there. |

The sun is going to blow up just like any other star. When that happens, the human race will be wiped out - no questions asked.
