Oh I'm so down. I still play zombie escape sometimes on CS:S. Never gets old. So down for Office.
Also 15 years for me. Fuck man we are getting old as shit.
Also, loving Back 4 Blood. Highly recommend to everyone who enjoys coop zombie action. I play on steam. gLiTch handle was retired with FT. You can find me as theRemedy on Steam friends.

Super down for a rerun. I think we all have some old connections to plan something ahead of time, on an updated game, or even outdated, for all of us to do an event on. I would look forward to that very much

For one, as you know, i have not been on at all really this summer. I made a few days ago, a return thread stating that i am back. This is true. I have had a lot of things going for me this summer, and i had to get my shit together. I finished college, and we are in the midst of moving. Now that i got that out of the way i realize we have a major... and i mean MAJOR issue going on with FTC. Fetus did say it best back in the day. We are starting to become a forum-based clan. CSS is dwindling. There are more flashier and better games out there. That plus the beginning of the "competitive" era, as well as the server IP change (or whatever that was)... was a major jump in the wrong direction. Similar to what fetus said, thats like bringing more water on to the Titanic when it was sinking. We gave this epic fail an adrenaline shot. Now, i was reading that thread and i noticed a few of you guys throw out some points. Goosey goose said we still have 3 months of FTC paid for, while having 280 saved for future endeavours. Noskill said we shouldnt dump money into a black hole. Bandito had the heart to keep it going. Rusty pointed out reasons for the downfall. There were a few other good points in there. Now i agree with all of them, one definitely being Noskill. Its just hard to give in this quick. It doesnt seem right to me. I laid out a few options in my head. One is to keep it going. Every year, FTC dwindles in numbers a bit in the summer. This is obvious as to why. PEOPLE GO OUT IN THE SUMMER. This accompanied by CAL plus a change in server = an "instant KO." I feel we should keep it going... because once the summer is over, and the fall comes around, more people are going to be bored, and more are going to be playing games again. People cant stay outside late because they got school. But that doesnt mean they cant play behind closed doors until the wee hours int he morning. A second option would be to let it die. Now this hurts to say. But i said it. We could stick to a forum-based clan. I dont see how this would work for much longer, although i would certainly stick around for it. We could chill on surf. There are a number of different ways to go with this option. And if it dies, we could use that money for option #3. Now, we are a great clan. Actually, we shouldnt even be called a clan anymore. We are a family. No matter what serious shit happens, we stick together (most of us). The money we hold on to, could be used for something else. We "could" shift to another game. A new FPS. A new RPG. Who knows? Anything could happen in due time. This is also a bad thing. By doing so would require more people to upgrade there PCs... and for some, thats just not possible. You would also lose many people who are dedicated to CSS. Not everyone may like the new game? This option does pose a lot of threats. But it does have a lot of good parts to it. On a second note, another thread would be getting someone to host the new server and run it. I think at this point, we are running out of experienced people to do so. The final option that came to mind was this... (i think Rusty mentioned this). ReVamp FTC. And when i say ReVamp, i mean START ANEW. Keep the FTC Constitution. But ReVamp the server. New mods, new map?, new admin policy, new gun rule? Lets go different! I mean completely reconstruct FTC from the ground up. Lets get creative. Those are our options. Please feel free to give us your own input. Now, i am not giving up. Whether FTC dies or not, i will still be around. And now that summer is coming to an end soon, i will be spending more time inside. That goes the same for many others as well. I have been here with this clan for just about 2 years now. We are an elite unit. Whatever we do with FTC, we do as a team, as a unit, as a family. Goodluck FTC, and goodluck to us all. P.S. Lets have a good constructive discussion. If this could be stickied, that would be cool too. |

First a clarification, FTC expires on September 12th or whatever Omni said and is not paid for an additional 3 months. The $280 was intended to go to an extension of subscription. You would have to choose: continue the subscription starting Sept 13th OR the $280 (plus a little extra). Not both. That's first of all second of alll is this. Look the problem isn't the server, it's not the mods, or the map, or anything else, that we can "fix". The problem is simply the people. I see you saying you would like to take a crack a keeping it populated and I commend you for it... but it's just words man... trust me... About how long ago? 2 months? 1 month ago? I was all "Ra Ra" too... shit I was in the server everyday by myself until it filled up. I even wrote a populating a server 101 guide... but guess what... a handful of people read it and even fewer responded to it. Also my... enthusiasm is gone, seriously. Populating a server sucks. You sit there for sometimes hours with 6 people... you get up to 12, and then 3 people leave and everyone else bails... it's just... not a good use of my (or anyone else's) time for that matter. I also don't buy into the seasonal drop off either... certainly it hasn't helped, but the connections are gone. The regulars who used to populate office without anyone even being on are gone. Caveman, Trueagle, Airborne Aggie, SUPERMANFAN or whatever his name was, even Dancing Cat, GodMadeGun, HORSECOCK, I mean the list could go on forever... You can't just rebuild that. Everyone wants a full server to play on but very few people want to sit in it for hours, playing 2v2, 3v3, waiting for 14 more people to join. I don't blame them... I did it for 2 weeks and it sucked ass. There's only 1 way I see FTC not dying... and it's if FT made a commitment to join FTC at a certain hour everyday and stay there until a certain hour everyday. Then you might get enough people on regularly enough, to build a new base of regulars. But I imagine that working as well as scheduled practices worked for CAL... hell I imagine it working worse because there would be MORE people involved with LESS incentive. The last thing I'm going to mention is the price. This NFO server is fucking expensive. Like 3 times more expensive than many other hosting companies... and I don't think it's fair to the people contributing to spend that amount of money BUILDING a server population. If the server was already populated and full all the time... I could justify it. But you don't build a server on a 24 slot, 24/7 Office, $100/mo server... No... if you want to build a server you need to be marketable. Either by A) Being wicked fuckin cheap Adressing a specific demand (and looking at the # of 24/7 Office servers this demand has been met) or C) Offering higher value (which in video games translates into MORE FUN than any other server) And that's what we're talking about... rebuilding a server... You build a server with a cheap, 12 slot server specific to the needs of the individuals who visit it. Then you expand when that one is full 80% of the time. I dunno, my two cents. Exhibit A: H&S has 10 people on right now, 0 of which are FT. Office has 0 people on right now 0 of which are FT. People want something different, H&S is different, that's why it has random people on it. Office is not different, that's why it has 0 people on it. Edited Wed Aug 06 2008, 11:29PM |

Noskill, you make good points. My post was simply to lay out some options that came to mind. And i like your "marketing" speech lolz... 100% correct. Keeping the server and waiting for the season change is one option. Risky though. Building up the server is another... and it is possible. Like you said Noskill, people like change. We could change it up a bit. However, change doesnt last for too long. Look at Zombie. I think the key was finding something the average bunch of people enjoyed doing, and make it stable. Get a bunch of people who had good social skills and stick em' in there. FTC was that. Honestly, no matter how much i want FTC to be what it used to, i dont think its going to happen. The only thing i do see happening that could work is finding another game. This just came to mind. Right now, we officially branch into 2 games. One being CSS, and the other being WoW. I think right now its very important to not shun away WoW players, as well as others. Heres my idea. We are, like Fetus said, turning into a forum-based clan. Well, lets use that. Not everything that happens is a bad thing. Yes, things will come to an end, but thats just how things work. Nothing lasts forever. Even if FTC was a seasonal thing, and it went back to the way ti was, how long would it last? Not long. Fetus was correct again, CSS is aging. Even if we got it back to the way it was, then it would only be a matter of time before CSS became 1.6 The game will die one day. LETS NOT LET FT DIE! To prevent that, we need to roll with the punches. And what better way then to branch off into many new games. Stick to our forums. Lets play different games. Lets keep Surf in CSS, and lets keep our guild in WoW. Lets join another game and create our spot in that one. We have some very serious advancement options this way. Lets get WoW people onto the forums. Lets get more Surfers onto the forums.. Lets get other gamers from other games onto these forums. Lets not limit ourselves to a specific game anymore. Guys, if we base this clan on CS:S, then when CS:S dies, so will we. Lets not let that happen! Lets use this opportunity! My favorite quote ever is "Where there's a will, there's a way." Lets make it happen captain! We will soon need a slight forum ReVamp to accommodate a few new things if we decide to move in that direction.... (which at this point seems like the only viable safe option). Lets get some more input guys! Stop being gay! Edited Thu Aug 07 2008, 03:05AM |

ok, few things. First on what glitch said: You say let surfers and wow players on the forums. If I'm not mistaken, the "office" players had a problem with surf people, and since they were, at that point, the majority of FT, a lot of surfers couldn't get into the clan. You have no idea how this affected our server, and our regulars. Some surfers think surf was the FT thing, not office, although I know a lot of you thought it was the other way around. So changing your ways now is a little late, since you have shunned more than enough people away from the forums and FT servers. And word of mouth spreads. now, a little off of what noskill said: How about instead of having such a large server, drop down to a 20 slot, it'd be cheaper, and you may be able to bring more people in, in a more intimate setting. but, we still have D2, and soon enough D3 will have a huge following, I say we hit that shit up when it does happen. But that is my two cents on some shit. |

Are we assuming that wherever this money came from, everyone who sent the money is okay with NOT spending it on FTC? In other words, if i sent money to someone so that they would fix a hole in my wall, and they decided that money would be better spent painting my house, I'd be pretty damn pissed if they didn't okay it with me first... |

It really does suck that half the clan decided to quit/goto rehab simultaneously, but it isnt the end of the world that everyone is making out to be (that happens tomorrow when they switch on the Large Hadron Collider). The way I see it now is that we have two real options: 1) RECRUIT - we just suffered a major loss, so maybe it's time to relax our strict rules a bit, cut the drama shit and stop taking every little thing so personal, and open our doors to new members. Nothing stays the same, and by settign our server up that way, we got left in the dust. Now is the time to play catch-up and try to (sadly) replace our old players with some regulars an invite in some newbies. Maybe even take a note from surf and add a "member" admin class that allows regs to kick troublesome players. 2) REBUILD - Personally this is the option I prefer. It seems the people have grown bored with the same old setup and want something new. Perhaps we should consider a setup that allows us to change/addon later. I always wanted to see a FT Funserver (custom maps, mods, maybe even music). However, you must cosiderthat this will draw in a new audience that is not like the office-going crowd. Any way you look at it, we need to make some major changes. I do not consider new games an option because, I' sure there's some time before D3 comes out, and this is happening right now. Kremit tried a TF2 server already and it failed, so I don't see any need to beat a dead horse. And please consider that people did donate with the expectation of the old ftc (which is clearly impossible at this point). Just make sure the majority is happy before anyone makes a rash decision. In response to toasters, though TF2 failed, a handful of FTers have moved to WoW. of those people, many are active on ventrilo (since the server is not always nazjatar - alliance anymore) I think that one of our best options would be for everyone to get diablo 3 when it DOES come out -- if a significant amount of people ended up playing d3, we could all stay together, and active. Everyone seems worried about us "losing" people... we're not losing that many people, we're just spreading out. if we focus and all come together on one thing, we can bring back what it seems the people here want... |

I like what Rusty and Angry said. We did have a major loss, and denying this or not, we need some people around here. Since we need to repopulate and rebuild... Why not get a server that go be either FT GunGame, FT hideandseek, FT Office, FT Deathmatch, FT AWP maps, FT Scoutsknives, etc etc. That way, each month we could vote on what the server would be for the next month. Popularity vote, whatever everyone wants, we do, that way we meet people's needs, and the server never gets too boring. Office is kindof an old thing... but something we always like going back to. If it's on rotation, and we miss it, ZOMG let's make office for the month of July. I know, kindof stupid idea. But we always have to meet the majority's needs, and since we need a larger population for majority, always peeking interest will get that. |

Ok i've been a part of Ft for a long time. even when i wasnt a clan member i was an avid regular with alot of real time friends who were playing here. I LOVE FTC. it is the reason i bought CSS. it is the reason i reinstalled it in my computer and still play today. i have seen our clan try new maps and new games and all have come and fallen in no time at all. i remember both times we had a rotation and it died all most as quickly as it came. FTC is dying and with it is this clan. if FTC goes then i hate to say it but most likely i'll go as well. i like surfing but that is a rare once in a while thing that i would not have to be a clan member for. Without FTC the clan will never be the same. its hard to be a part of a clan when the reason your in it is gone. in my opinion if you want to save the clan QUIT THE BULLSHIT! fortunatly i was not here when alot of it happened and therefore dont know the circumstances. LOOK how many members and regulars have left. you cant say thats because the game is dying or seasons. ITS BECAUSE SOMEWHERE ALONG THE LINE WE STARTED FUCKING SHIT UP WITH NONSENSE ARGUMENTS AND REDICULOUS BULLSHIT. we have started problems with other clans that lost us people. we have gone Nazi on nitpicking rules. its a fucking game. seriously. i hate that we have come to this point. now i'm not saying for sure i will leave but its a definate possibility. i love all you oldies like family. i really do. and i would definatly keep in touch but unless drastic measures are taken this clan, servers, and forum will die | ||
